Of all races in the known world, none are as puzzling as the humans.
When they first appeared untold millennia ago, they were nothing short of unremarkable- considered brutish, stupid, and barbaric, they were rarely taken note of by other races. And yet, despite their filth, their disorganization, and their readiness to breed with other species, spawning a multitude of half-breeds, they prevailed. Young and old races alike suffered over the following centuries from war, famine, natural disasters, and all sorts of misfortune, but it was always the human race that bounced back first and adapted while all else would go mad, hide, or simply die out. No matter how horrid the circumstances, they survived, and became the better for it. Before long, Man had become the most populous species on the planet, as well as one of the most dominant.
Views of this seemingly invincible species are mixed- they are admired and hated, feared and loved, praised and criticized. The dark-haired, cream-skinned people of Broddring in particular attract attention- though its citizens no longer remember it, Broddring was the greatest empire that ever existed mere centuries ago. Now its monuments are crumbling, its glory forgotten, and yet its people still have pride and spirit, and are content with their lot. Loyalty is their greatest virtue, and family is held dearly. At the same time, however, they are suspicious and warlike, and enslavement of other races is commonplace.
Whatever the viewpoint, one thing is certain of Man- they are a persistent lot, and will remain upon the earth for a very long time.
