one girl, one dragon idea, one dozen different attempts to draw this DAMN DRAGON!!! Okay so a few weeks ago I'm thinking of ideas for different kinds of dragons and I think "you know what's awesome? Microraptors" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microraptor)
so started the endless Micragon quest. I watched documentaries on microraptors, I watched documentaries on bats, I watched documentaries on goshawks. All the dragons i drew looked like spliced creatures of the references I was drawing. Thankfully I brought "how to train your pet dragon" on dvd the other day and it reminded me (specifically the characters designed by Nicolas Marlet) that drawing isn't just about what you see with your eyes, it's also about tone. After that finishing this drawing was ridiculously easy, go figure.

I promise I'll get some of my dragon art up soon! I need honest critiques of it.
Wash: "Yeah well, if she doesn't give us some extra flow from the engine room to offset the burn through, this landing is gonna get pretty interesting."
Mal: "Define interesting."
Wash: "Oh god oh god we're all gonna die?"
Mal: "This is the captain. We have a...little problem with our engine sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then...explode."

- this one has nice colors
- Cute little Tarasque
- intense... but the colors are bad
- I call this one the hound of the badasskerviles
- whoa... oh yah, there is a dragon in this one
