So, I've somewhat noticed that a whole lot of activity has dropped off on our little site here. That does tend to happen from time to time, but this time it coincided with a time where I feel inspired to write and do something about it. So, while on the endless weeks of 3rd shift at my job, I have beaten together a concept for a main plot that works a little differently than the others, and I wanted to see if there was interest in it before I launched it.
Here is what I've written up:
The Dwarven race, steeped in tradition as well as religion and arms, has recently been thrown into civil disrest as a zealous faction of the church of Gûntera has finally grown in power and influence enough to reach Tronjheim, the Council, and even the King. The faction, Encesti Dorzada (Name subject to change. Translates as "Holiest Adoration") is pursuing a strengthening of a theocracy, one where the church will hold nearly all the power. Some clans already support this agenda, and their cities have been cracking down on crime and heresy, dealing out righteous justice to all they deem unworthy at any time, in any place with the city guards turning a blind eye at best, and actively participating at worst. The King has called the Council to deal with the matter once and for all, and the situation has come to a boil as all the various clans and factions converge on the Dwarven capital. The turmoil is fierce enough that it has reached the ears of those in Broddring and Du Weldenvarden, and both send a party of emissaries to observe and possibly influence the decision to gain an advantage in their cold war. The King has also called for a Rider envoy to keep the city as peaceful and contained as possible.
So, if that interests you, this is how I see the events going down:
The plot will occur over 7 in-game days where the four possible groups of players (Humans, Elves, Riders, and Dwarves) will attempt to sway the opinions of the parties and influence the outcome of the council meetings, as well as possibly add fuel to the fire. There will be a strategy thread for the groups where they can all plan their next moves together, and the outcome of the planning will spawn the threads that will be each party acting out their daily plans. At the end of these threads, whether they finish or stall, the day will advance and the various NPC groups will react to the actions of the players, and the cycle of planning and doing will restart for the 7 days of the event. Hopefully this will eliminate the need for giant threads that stall due to too many participants, as well as allow player to switch in and out on days they are available, so that the threads are always moving.
Hopefully this intrigues you, and hopefully if enough of you show your interest I can draw some people and support back.
