The Hive was reeling from the sudden change of government in Ellesmera, but the Hive would live on as always. A multinational organization like this can’t be stopped, at least not as easily as some made the job out to be. Men and women devoted their lives to the hunting and dismantling of the Hive, but none had yet succeeded, basking in the small glory their work got them as they fell into death when they made the wrong move. Amelia was a big part of the reason the Ellesmera branch still operated as well as it does, as were all of the other Lieutenants. The Shrikes had their hands full with multinational threats and concerns, the Lieutenants were the guys who got things done at the local level, and Amelia was doing all she could to gain their favor and become one of them. That meant leading the Malakian Company through the storm of Du Weldenvarden and its extreme magical research with Ramakrishna in the palace and the dark things that came with unmitigated research for war and protection. She had studied magic, like all others, in Ilirea with the Riders. That meant that she, like all others, had learned how to defend herself magically as well as physically. That did not mean she liked the idea of any more than that, however.
She was making her way through the capital of the Elves quickly, carefully making sure to not knock through anyone but also not being a complete pushover. Such was the Game of the Elves. Politics and appearance were the underlying cause of most actions this high up in the nobility and royalty and the movers and shakers of Du Weldenvarden. Not only was she a minor noble, she was a Hive Lieutenant. She knew her place. She had known since that one evil night away from Ellesmera, and since she was introduced to, or rather save by, the Malakian Company. That place had changed but her quality of work and expectations had not, and it showed in her well-rehearsed charade as she moved her way into her destination, the palace.
Normally, a minor noble could almost join the palace at will, but the present circumstance had changed. This was business, not pleasure, and as such had to be very carefully orchestrated. She was not to meet with the Queen, nor the Regent and young Lord, but a minister of commerce for the country. She had to make her displeasure and opinion heard to him. Not a difficult task, but one that required some care. Obviously it required some, or she wouldn’t personally be doing it. She does however, stop in the entrance hall to the palace, surveying the crowd before she was to move into her appointment. She had some time to kill, if her own internal clock had anything to tell her, so observing the crowd for people she could work with was little bother. Killing two birds with one stone if you will. She slowly moves her eyes over it as she moves into the hall instead of blocking the door, and waits to see someone she might recognize or might have some business with her. Few knew her secret identity, its true, but it was no small rumor she was involved with the nefarious Hive. She had been personally contacted several times, in fact. Hopefully this was one of those times.
