Name: Roka Isidar
Age: 142
Race: Dwarf
Allegiance: The dwarves and Guntera. Also, Indomitis, since he's her commanding officer.
Physical Description:
Roka seems to be constantly on the lookout, surveying her surroundings from her height of 4'4. Her eyes are a very dark green that seems to hold unfathomable depths. These terrifyingly deep eyes always sparkle with what appears to be satisfaction, just as they are always watching the land around. Because of this, the corners of her eyes are crinkled like paper. Her face is not especially pretty to look at at first, but it is striking, and if one looks at her for a while they may see a certain predatory grace. Her eyebrows are curled like cats' tails over her eyes an wildly animate, and her nose is prominent and somewhat crooked. She refuses to tell anyone whether it is an inherent trait or the result of a broken nose. Her skin is the palest of tans, from some, but not much time aboveground. Her mouth is small and stern, with the smallest of creases around it, and is usually chapped a little. Despite her usual stern expression, her smiles are wide and her expressions vary wildly as she exercises her outrageous dry wit. Her hair is black, not usually shining due to the fact that it is more often tucked messily into her helmet than brushed. It is slightly longer than mid-length, falling just to the middle of her shoulder blades. When it is not in her helmet, she tends to braid or bind it to keep it out of the way. Her ears stick out a bit, and one of them is pierced, carrying a heavy opal stud in the shape of a star, in which she keeps a magical reserve. She wears a fine linen or cotton tunic under her well-made plate armor - armor which is designed to be the most flexible plate armor dwarven smiths can produce. The full set includes boots, greaves, and bracers as well as the main cuirass (although not gauntlets, which she eschews for a better grip on her huthivir). She dons a black cloak in the rain, adorned with the Order's insgnia. Due to the two-handed nature of her preferred weapon, the huthivir, she does not carry a shield. In addition the the huthivir, she does carry several knives and a short sword. Each has a medium-to-small gem in its hilt, all containing magical power like her earring. The huthivir itself, as well as the sword, is enchanted - both are resistant to damage from other weapons. However, these enchantments are finite, and she has lost two huthivir after their spells ran out. She has scars on her hands, since she leaves them bare to fight better with the huthivir, the worst of which is a slash across her left palm.
Personality:
She is wickedly sarcastic, and her tongue is quite sharp. However, she is irritable and stern at worst, so her full verbal wrath is mostly spared unless she is angry, frightened, or in a hurry. The former and the latter are relatively common, but she is rarely afraid - at least, not to such a degree that she begins swearing and shouting. It's not that she hides her fear; she considers it a valuable motivator and asset in combat. She just controls her fear, such that she is not often in a position where she cannot use it. It is only when her fear cannot be assuaged that she begins to protest at the universe (and frequently pray, as well). She fears especially cunning and/or skilled opponents, especially those with strong magic. She therefore is quite wary of elves, and fortunately she has never met one. She doesn't expect to, either, although only Guntera knows if she is right. Dragons, she hates more than fears, although she also respects them as people and as worthy opponents. She most desires to serve Guntera and to know His ways, although she did not and does not especially like everything about being one of His Paladins. She prefers to convert where possible, rather than fight, but she is a warrior at heart and focuses mostly on the battles she has fought and will fight. She observes everything she can whenever she can, believing that seeing every facet of the world and anticipating every possibility is the key to survival. She is intensely curious, but she rarely shows openly inquisitive behavior, choosing instead to see, observe, deduce, and politely inquire. As such, she is an excellent interrogator and is good at reading people and things. She is also a master tactician, a result of the hard training put to her as a Paladin. She maintains that she got her position as Stormwalker by seeing and knowing all that she could so she would always know what to do. This is her other biggest goal - to learn. She is a firm believer in learning by doing, although she is a skilled wordsmith and both speaks and reads Dwarvish, a reasonable amount of the Ancient Language, and Broddring Common. She is hardly a poet or writer, but skill in almost all areas is required for a Paladin, especially the Paladin Stormwalker. Although she knows about the current external conflicts, she cares little about them as long as they are not taken near her or her people. She likes to sing and her favorite food is roast Nagra. As to her skills, she is naturally an expert with the double-bladed staff/spear known as the huthivir, and she is almost equally skilled with short blades such as swords and daggers. As these are the weapons she uses most frequently, she is more skilled with them than any others, although her skills with those other weapons are not to be trifled with. She is, after all, a Paladin. In general, Roka values observation and knowledge above all things, followed by strength in combat and loyalty to one's friends and to Guntera. She was toughened, but not hardened by her years of training, and she believes above all else in Guntera.
History:
She was born in the cold, high-altitude city of Nabban, and got lost in a blizzard very early in her life. In the early days of her training she often speculated that it was during this storm that Guntera determined her fate. She was barely four years old at the time, and certainly believes that her survival is thanks to Guntera. Shortly after the incident, she was taken by the Hammer of Guntera for training, which devastated her parents. Roka was little fazed, and as her parents (especially her father) were strict and devout worshippers of Guntera, she in fact felt quite honored at the time. As her training began in the secret and holy places of the Order, she grew to dislike not exactly her position, but her lessons and duties. Her rigorous studies covered most fields, and in particular she lapped up lessons about history, magic, and the gathering of information. She disliked politics, however, as she had and has a fondness for near-total honesty. Somewhere around 20 years into her 100 or so of training, Indomitis Amerasu was brought in for training. She worried at first that he might not do well, but she came to respect him as he became an expert in practically every skill. At one point, Indomitis became lost and encountered a wild Nagra, and Roka (utilizing her already well-honed observation skills) tracked him and defeated the Nagra with him. After that point, Roka and Indomitis became friends of a sort, and due to this he appointed her his Stormwalker. She has kept this position and done quite a good job of it (if she does say so herself), consistently backing up her friend and Bastion. Many of her scars were accumulated in his defense. Generally speaking, she has lived her entire life in service of Guntera and her Bastion, and she doesn't indent for that to change. She was and is always ready for the mission at hand.
