Physical Description: As a hatchling Taesi appears as a ball of flesh around the same size as a housecat, except with scales and much sharper claws. Her wingspan is roughly two feet in length, and her tail is only slightly longer than a foot. Her scales and wing membranes are soft and smooth, and the spikes are smooth and sharp as needles. There are two horns on the top of her head, short and stubby not yet coming to full points.
As an adult Taesi has two horns on the top of her head that curve around and over her snout. Her scales are violet in color, the scales on her neck and belly a lighter shade of violet. Her wings have a single spike on the tips, sharp enough to pierce bone. In a straight path from the base of her skull to her tail is a trail of spikes, except for a space at the base of her neck that is perfect for a saddle. The claws on her forelegs are slightly serrated and her head is shaped vaguely like a triangle. Like all dragons, her claws fangs, horns, and spikes are all bone white. Her body is more medium than large, built for strength and endurance, though surprisingly fast for a dragon her size. Her wingspan is roughly eighteen feet, and she stands at almost ten feet tall.
Personality: Taesi has a fierce streak in her ten miles long, if she becomes riled it is very difficult to calm her down. That being stated however, it is very difficult to get her angry enough to do much more than scare someone with a particularly loud and long roar. However, despite this fierce streak, there is a much softer side to her. In many ways she is nothing more than a giant, scaly, fire breathing kitten. She is fiercely loyal to Riley and all those Riley is close too, choosing them first, and everything else second. Like her Rider, she takes her responsibilities very seriously, so long as they do not interfere with her morals. Like many other dragons, she has a tendency to enjoy fighting, which is offset by her Rider’s preference for peaceful solutions to any situation. However, unlike her Rider who prefers to plan things out and think before acting, Taesi is fond of rushing in without thinking.
Taesi has a great enjoyment of flying, never wanting to land or stay on the ground for very long. She takes great pride in her appearance, grooming herself regularly, and regularly partaking of fireweed to offset bad breath. She views a day without her scales sparkling as a day wasted, and doesn’t have any qualms about admitting she takes great pride in her appearance. What Taesi will never admit however, is the great pride she takes in receiving complements about her appearance. Or the fact that she grooms regularly just so she will be complemented on her scales. In excess of the pride she takes in her scales, she urges Riley to take care of his own appearance, trying to make him wear fine clothes.
History: Taesi is the daughter of two dragons bonded to Rider’s, her dam was named Lilac and her sire was named Porfirio. Of the seven eggs Lilac laid, Taesi was the only one she gave to the Rider’s. Lilac was a violet dragon, though a deeper shade than her daughter, the female elf that was bonded to Lilac was named Alai, and the likewise female elf bonded to Porfirio, a golden dragon, was named Tasha. The two dragons met when their Riders were sent on the same mission on accident, the four instantly forming a strong and close friendship. So it naturally wasn’t a surprise when the two dragons decided to mate and eggs naturally become the result of the mating.
The egg containing Taesi was hatched, and this one purple egg was given to the Riders, this of course marked the last time all four would be together. For although Lilac had disgorged her Eldunari, Porfirio had not and had no plans on doing such a thing either not seeing the point. The four were on their last mission together, and stopped to rest in the Spine. Naturally, a large wild dragon had made her nest extremely close to their campsite. She didn’t appreciate the bonded dragons and their elven Riders and waited for nightfall before the black dragon descended on the small group. Lilac was first, then her rider. Porfirio managed to tear off the black dragon’s wing, at the cost of his own neck. Using one last act of the dragon’s unpredictable magic, he teleported his Rider back to Ilirea directly in front of Lilac’s Eldunari. Lilac and Tasha grieved together, spending everyday with each other and helping the other not descend fully into madness.
Twenty years later, a human descended into the vault on Vroengard but this wasn’t just any human, this human was destined to become the first human Rider in history. The egg of Lilac and Porfirio hatched that night for the human named Riley Cypher, bonding with him and becoming the first in a long line of human and dragon partnerships.
Roleplaying Sample: Taesi was cramped, trying to move around in her egg and get more comfortable, she hoped someone would come soon, someone that was worthy of being her partner. How long had she been in this egg, it felt like she had been in here for centuries, but it had to have only been a couple decades. Three at the most, however something was starting to feel different. Things had changed a few months ago, something was different about the magic that was around her causing her to wait until her Rider appeared. Of course, that day something extraordinary happened, her mother who she had never spoken too, touched her mind. ”Daughter.. Your destiny is set to begin… You will make a mark in history…”
Taesi squirmed in her egg, anticipation gripping every inch of her body, her diminutive scales itched. Today was the beginning of everything, she was about to hatch, she didn’t know how she knew it but she knew it. That was when she sensed him, and he sensed her though he didn’t realize it yet. He was in front of the eggs now, touching them, moving closer and closer to her. Then she suddenly felt his hand on her egg, it was time, she was going to hatch. Gathering her energy, she started trying to break apart the shell, one piece broke off, then with all of her remaining energy, she burst the egg apart. Violet eyes turning to look at the man standing in the room, a human man, she didn’t know humans were allowed in the pact.. That must have been the change.
The human walked up to her and reached out with his hand, Taesi prodded his hand with her head, she could feel the energy serge through her new Rider, feel the bond being formed between the two. Immediately she put the idea of her name in his mind, then started becoming curious about her new Rider…
Two years later
Taesi awoke and stretched her long neck out yawning, a puff of smoke escaping from her mouth. She opened her wing and looked down at Riley where he lay sleeping, the sheathed sword in his arms a perfect match to the shade of her scales. She slowly stood, being careful not to wake Riley, he was grumpy lately when he was awoken too early. The young human had changed in the two years they had been partners, more than just mentally he had changed physically as well. His face angled, his ears pointed like the two-legs-pointed-ears. He was strong too, and getting stronger everyday few humans could match his strength, he was faster also, much faster. And he was only getting better and better every single day.
Taesi beamed at her Rider with pride, in the beginning he had been trying to prove that he was every bit as good as an elven Rider. Soon however, he had calmed down and started just doing his best without proving anything. She slowly and carefully moved into the small forest glen, using her mind to take control of a rabbit and brought It up to her, and with one controlled burst of flame from her belly, she killed, cooked, and skinned the rabbit. Picking it up like a mother cat would her kitten, she carried it back to Riley, waking him up with a prod from her mind. ”I brought you breakfast, eat while it’s still hot.” Riley caught the rabbit, juggling it between his hands before extending his wrist blades, stabbing the rabbit and leaving it suspended so it wouldn’t burn him.
Taesi went back to her Rider, crouching down for him to climb up her back. ”Get on my back little one, we have a long flight to Vroengard ahead of us, and you know how Ana worries about you.” Riley grunted and climbed up into the saddle, ”Yeah I know Taesi, let’s get home before Ana gets upset with us.” Taesi snorted as Riley started devouring the rabbit she got for him, smoke blowing back in his face. ”Us? She will not be upset with me, she thinks I’m a beautiful and magnificent beast. It’s you she’ll be upset with.” It was Riley’s turn to laugh now, Taesi felt a few chunks of rabbit hit her neck. ”No, she’ll be mad at us, especially after I tell her what you got us into this time.” Taesi would have blushed if she could have, instead she took off suddenly and caused Riley to lose his rabbit. ”Ooops..”
