Name: Savan Lilith
Age: 14
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Occupation: Foot Soldier
Allegiance: (Presently) Morona
Physical Description:
5’5” Despite his history, Savan is still a fairly skinny boy. Perhaps slightly underweight, there are clear signs of light muscle evident in his build, however, given his age and overall lack of body mass it is muscle gained from nothing and looks largely unimpressive.
His skin is pale to the point where he looks almost ill –due in no small part to a lack of contact with the sun- which, when coupled with his skinny build gives his eyes and cheeks and cheeks a sunken look.
Starting from his hair-line on the right side of his head Savan sports a long set of claw-scars travelling from the aforementioned point, diagonally across his face –even across his eyes- and then continuing down the left side of his neck and around the back, eventually terminating at the base of his head.
His hair is a very dull ginger colour –once more due to a lack of contact with the sun- and is generally kept relatively short.
His eyes are a gentle hazel colour.
His clothing of choice is a relatively tattered –and in some cases slightly too small- set of plain black-long-sleeved top and slacks along with a plain set of boots, and a complete set, of equally plain black leather armour. The only exception to this is the patch of the right sleeve of his top that shows the crest of his former Warlord.
(The crest itself is a rune from one of the Non-Human languages from within Empire Nirvana, the meaning unknown to those unable to understand the language.)
Finally, on the thumb of his right hand Savan is always wearing a solid gold signet ring with the number “VII” engraved into it.
Personality:
As a person there is little to say about Savan, he largely looks at himself an expendable front-line unit. Because of this he takes very little pride in his appearance –though his complexion is not intentional- and often opts to wear rags instead of actual clothing. In his mind’s-eye there is little need for him to make an effort when he has little use outside the field of battle.
He generally has little to say and often makes no attempt to socialise with other people in an informal manner. He dislikes the idea of people becoming attached to him and tries his hardest to prevent that from happening, he is convinced that his odds of surviving into adulthood are low and doesn’t want people to feel sorrow that he isn’t worth when he does pass.
He has developed a habit of absently playing with his signet ring with his index finger whenever he has time to himself or is very generally not doing much.
Savan cannot read, nor can Savan write.
Equipment:
Crest Shield:
A shield forged specifically for Savan, it has been purposefully crafted to be narrow enough to fit the width of his arm perfectly. The shield is long enough to cover the entirety of his forearm whilst providing some additional protection for his hand, wrist and elbow by curving inwards at both the top and the bottom to generally make striking at the usual vulnerable areas difficult. The shield is made of a dark-metal located within Empire Nirvana and shows very clear signs of wear-and-tear; however, it is a sturdy piece of equipment that is build to withstand punishment.
The crest of Savan’s former Warlord still stands out visibly above all of the wear-and-tear the shield has sustained.
Lilith’s Kiss:
A short sword forged for the Front-Line Unit named “The Children of Lilith”, forged of the same dark-metal as the shield this short sword is a simple double-edged blade, which, much like Savan’s shield shows very clear signs of wear-and-tear. Despite that, however, the blade is still as sharp today as it was the day it was forged and is easily able to end life in the hand of its owner. The number “VII” is likewise engraved into the blade and stands out clearly above the visible wear-and-tear that the blade has sustained.
History:
Savan was born to a single mother, whom was unable to afford the costs involved with raising a child. Living on the road and without money Savan’s mother did what any lower-privileged mother in Empire Nirvana would have done and turned to one of The Warlords. After several hours of negotiating Savan was eventually sold to Warlord Sol, so that his mother would be able to buy herself an abysmal, single roomed house in one of the few slums dotted around The Empire. It is here that Savan’s life truly begins.
Any name that he had been given by his mother was discarded was Savan was handed to the “care-taker” of one group of infants, her name was Lilith. The most notorious trainer of child soldiers within the army of Warlord Sol. Her “Unit”, “The Children of Lilith” consisted of seven children, of which, Savan was the seventh, which is where he was named “Savan”.
(Savan, in the language that Lilith used literally translates into “seven”.)
Over the first seven years of Savan’s life Lilith was in almost constant mental contact with him and the other six children, very gently conditioning and twisting them to their future roles within the armies of Warlord Sol. This included conditioning such as draining the children of all of their self-worth in order to make them believe that they were little more than expendable assets for use by their superiors.
On the day of his seventh birthday Savan and his brethren were presented to Warlord Sol as fully conditioned soldiers, capable of surprise attacks both behind enemy lines and on the front-lines. However, despite Lilith’s well earned reputation, before Warlord Sol could accept his new troops he needed to test that they were capable of surviving on at least a basic level. It is here that Savan and his six brethren undertook the final step to being recognised as soldiers.
Their task was to survive an onslaught of feral animals and Non-Humans for an extended length of time. And, despite Savan and taking a hit to the face early and another three of his brethren taking hits to the arms and torso they ultimately accomplished their task and became fully recognised troops within the ranks of Warlord Sol’s army.
(The wounds that Savan and his brethren sustained were allowed to heal at a natural pace to, in Lilith’s words “serve as a reminder of how little they meant.”)
Savan and his brethren didn’t see their first battle until they were eight years of age, they were sent behind enemy lines to ambush specific troops and other targets of importance by any means necessary. It is here that Savan made his first kill.
Despite the overwhelming odds stacked against them, Savan and his brethren accomplished their missions and managed to escape without suffering a single loss.
Things continued this way until Savan was ten years of age. Savan, his brethren and Lilith had been sent into some of the wilder areas of The Empire on a mission, and it was during their travels that they received news detailing the death of Warlord Sol, Lilith fled almost immediately, leaving Savan and his brethren to fend for themselves.
With little more than training in combat and only minimal survival skills it didn’t take long from their numbers to begin dropping. Eventually, Savan was the only one left standing. Lost, alone and with no idea where he was going, Savan made the decision to sell his skills to the first group of travellers he came across, as long as he could use his skills to act as some form of guard, then he could survive off of whatever food and water the groups had.
He was fortunate, when he did find himself a group to offer his skills to he found himself speaking to their leader, a man named Morona. However, instead of forcing Savan to earn his place among the people he was leading Morona instead offered him the chance to rest and recover from the ordeal he had clearly been through. Promising to earn his place once he had recovered Savan joined the group following Morona, and has been waiting patiently for his orders since.
Notes:
The Children of Lilith were forced to take Lilith’s name as their own, simply to show that they belonged to their “Care-Taker”.
Despite his young age and almost sickly complexion and build Savan is still a capable swordsman, and is able to move with surprising agility.
Despite his inability to read or write Savan can speak both Nirvanian-Common and Broddring-Common fluently.
Savan’s accent is still relatively thick, and while it can sometimes make him difficult to understand it does not tend to distort his words.
The Signet Ring, despite being the most valuable thing that Savan owns is actually proof of ownership, much like a collar to a dog. It shows that he belongs to the front-line unit of a Warlord.
Savan’s living conditions while among the armies of Warlord Sol were not the worst, but nor were they up to the same standard that the other troops enjoyed.
Not much in his personality section, I admit that, however, I feel he’s more likely to gain most of his character through development.
