Name: Aimé –[Pronounced: e-MAY]-
Age: 19
Race: Sentient Non-Human –[Avian Class]-
Sex: Male
Occupation: Messenger
Allegiance: Whoever promises the harm him the least
Physical Description:
There isn’t much to describe about Aimé’s appearance, he’s part of a race of sentient avian-creatures that very strongly resemble carrion crows. The only two features that make him distinguishable from those not of his race are that he is ever so slightly larger than regular crows, and that his eyes are a dark red colour.
From a long distance it is unlikely that the differences will be noticed by the eye alone, these very strong similarities have made this species invaluable as message carriers, even prior to the twenty-year war that served as the prelude to the creation of Empire Nirvana.
It has often been theorised that these creatures are quite simply, their “worlds” parallel to regular carrion crows. But given that their origins have long since been lost to history nothing has ever been confirmed.
Personality:
On the surface Aimé is someone whom usually changes depending on his situation, when he’s around people that make him feel safe or people he considers to be friends he usually tries to act bigger than he is –and feels- since, during this time he is under the impression that the person he is with will protect him.
However, around people he does not know, or in situations he generally feels uncomfortable in he will usually remain quiet in an attempt to avoid drawing attention to himself. But, that is not a certainty; it depends very strongly on what situation he is in, and whether or not he is able to get out of it.
Aimé is also highly vain, and takes a huge amount of pride in his appearance, despising letting so much as a single feather look dirty or out-of-place. When he has free time he tends to spend most of it preening and generally attempting to keep himself looking as well groomed as possible, no effort is spared; he always has to look his best.
However, that is not the biggest part of who Aimé is; he is a coward with an incredibly low threshold for pain. In any given situation if Aimé is unable to talk his way out of it he will opt to flee, he is almost completely incapable of tolerating pain and if any situation arises that threatens to cause Aimé either physical or mental harm with no chance of him being able to talk his way out of it he will fly away and not look back.
Because of this Aimé startles and generally gets scared very easily, during these times he is prone to panicking and making mistakes because of that. He also tends to get difficult to understand since he starts talking very fast –the speed differs depending on how bad his situation is at the time- either in an effort to save his own life, or to try and explain something.
Despite his cowardice, general intolerance to pain and lack of ability to fight Aimé is an exceptionally fast thinker, relatively intelligent and is something of a silver-tongue. Add to that Aimé’s incredible ability to commit things to memory indefinitely and he is a highly skilled gatherer of information regardless of his cowardice, after all, in his own words the “wingless foreigners” only ever base judgement on appearance... A wide-spread weakness that Aimé enjoys using to his advantage, probably, just a little bit too much.
In general Aimé’s opinion of the “wingless” population –usually in reference to any sentient creature lacking wings, however, this is mostly reserved for most humans and humanoid beings- is fairly low, they are underdeveloped, clumsy creatures and rarely are worth his time. He often looks down at them with a sense of disdain, and to a slightly lesser degree, pity –they lack the freedom he has, why wouldn’t he pity them for that?- and, regardless of the situation Aimé has no problem whatsoever telling a wingless exactly what he thinks of them. He also has no trouble insulting them outright, and will often do so no matter how bad his situation is.
He is still considered a juvenile among his own species, but has a tendency to act older than he is. Opting to act more for self preservation as opposed to acting for the good of a flock but that, however, is more down to his time spent within Hunter society, he isn’t the only member of his species to have been affected as such, but still accepts and respects others of his own that do act for the good of a flock.
History:
Aimé hatched in the home-base of Hunting Clan Terminus, during the incubation period he was kept alive by a young Hunter-in-training named Alastor Terminus; and was subsequently raised by the same Hunter after he hatched.
Aimé grew alongside Alastor, learning from Alastor –and Alastor in some cases even learned things from Aimé- over the course of time Aimé grew close to Alastor, seeing him as something close to family. Learning from him the values of intelligence and a quick-wit and the ability value talking over fighting, for the longest time Aimé was unable to understand why.
Most of Aimé’s life, was uneventful, growing up there wasn’t much he could do other than learn from Alastor, Alastor’s mentor and the others of his own species that were around him. (Although he has nearly been eaten multiple times during message deliveries; which has long since caused him to despise the routine, but he begrudgingly continues to accept his role.)
However, that changed when the event that history simply knows as “The Incident” began, over night Hunting Clan Latro had been destroyed and the numbers of Hunting Clan Corvus had been reduced dramatically. An emergency Clan-meet had been called, Aimé accompanied Alastor to the meeting grounds where the remnants of Hunting Clan Corvus had already gathered, along with several members of Hunting Clan D’alene, and.
This marks the time Aimé met Solomon Latro, each clan knew of him due to the size of his reputation, however, he refused to speak to anyone, including Alastor and Aimé.
A week passed, with survivors from each clan slowly arriving. Upon the seventh day Hunting Clan Latro had been declared dead, and talks were underway to ensure the survival of what was left of the remaining three clans. It was then that Alastor and Aimé had learned of Solomon’s plan and accompanied him back to his clan’s home-base.
The trip had been awkward and silent, barely a word passing between Solomon and Alastor – Aimé seeing no need to speak at all-. Once they reached the home-base of Hunting Clan Latro, Aimé saw the destruction left behind for himself. Bodies of the wingless littering the ground to the extent where it was barely visible, he watched in Silence as Solomon and Alastor frantically searched for possible survivors.
Once their efforts proved to be fruitless Alastor told Aimé to stay hidden, deciding that he would rather not put his own life at risk Aimé stayed at the home-base of Hunting Clan Latro, waiting for Alastor to contact him.
He waited for some time, but eventually Aimé learned that the cause of The Incident lie dead, bringing it to an end... Aimé rushed back to Alastor, eager to learn of what had happened.
With The Incident over Solomon, Alastor and the remaining two survivors whom had fought agreed that it would be best to go separate ways, to go into hiding. Aimé volunteered to deliver messages between the four, in order to help them exchange information, since they were wingless, they would be unable to do so themselves... And he has been since.
Notes:
The use of the term “non-human” became a mainstream term for all sentient creatures; that during the twenty-year war humans had ignorantly labelled as “demons”. Over the course of time the word demon grew to become a derogatory and racist term and slowly became replaced with the more respectful term non-human.
The “class” is to refer to a non-human’s specific race in general, since these other-worldly races don’t seem to have names for what they are, the “class” label was developed as a respectful form of identification.
Aimé is genuinely fond of Solomon and considers him a friend, however, he does often find it difficult to defend or even generally accept many of Solomon’s actions.
I’m not overly happy with the history, but, Aimé has done pretty much nothing throughout his life and The Incident is an event he was only briefly involved in.
