Mini-MP: Treasure Hunt (New joiners allowed!)

Two new rules that ALL mini-MPs run by me will be following:

1) You may not make a post where your character does nothing at all. They can't just follow around, or make the occasional comment, you have to do something, ANYTHING, that will push the plot forward. If you make a post that gives other people nothing else to work with I will ask you to change it.
2) There is no more formal kick-out process. I'll be posting about once a week, although it won't be as strict of a schedule as before because I clearly couldn't keep up with that. Instead, if you don't post, you just get left behind. If I post in two rounds and you aren't there, the third time I post, I'll no longer mention that your characters were even there. I don't want to beg through PMs anymore, so I won't.

I'd like it if the above people, if they're still on the site, would let me know on here if they're coming back or if they aren't, and which characters they'll be using. And after that, it would be great if you guys could discuss what you want to see in the thread. We left off with our characters shipwrecked on a creepy island where all the inhabitants committed suicide, and the Riders are unable to come rescue our people for several days at the very least. The CHALICE OF NYX must be found, and... yeah. I ran out of ideas in the middle. I did have an ending planned out, but then I lost some notes and some members disappeared so I may need to rethink that one too.

So, go ahead! Let me know if you're returning, which characters you're using, and drop any ideas. ^^

You know I am and I want to add something. (Because I can and people Love me!) But, what we mean by doing something, we mean wanting your character to do something! Sure, people noticing everyone is great, but even I am guilty of not doing anything and just following. So, if it is just a spur of the moment thought that gave a bit of action like... "Oh my Gosh! That doesn't look right!" that will make some action, then do it... I have been thinking up a few things to make my own post interesting.

Of course I'll be returning with Solomon in all his being.... Him! Unsure if I'll be able to use this as an opportunity to at least introduce Kaime at some point since ideas for him are still moving at something of a snails pace. But we'll see.

On a side note, we all do the whole follow post occasionally i know that I can get pretty bad at doing that when I'm particularly strapped for ideas. But it's a learning curve!

WOW, so that makes... Nayeli, Amu, Ell, Tris (Angmor told me), and Arizae is a maybe. That is FAR more than my five-member maximum but I'm certainly not going to force anyone out of a thread they rightfully joined. Still waiting on Don and I think Toriyuu and Dare aren't coming back, so I guess we can start the discussion.

Amu and Nayeli, it's great that you've thought about giving more. I just want people to realize, and I'm borrowing off Angmor's Once Bitten thread AGAIN, that RPing can never be a one-person venture, it needs another person's ideas and contributions to work. And not grate on my nerves. XD

So, before I return the thread to da RP boards... yeah. Ideas, plz. What should our characters get up to? I'm assuming they'd be hungry and sore after the poop they went through last night, although I think... Amu and Ell already posted so that just leaves Nayeli, Tris, and maybe Arizae before it's my turn again unless you guys want to add to your posts. WHAT SHOULD BE DONE?

-pops in- Seriously guys, she may be the admin, and it may be the main plot of the site she runs, it doesn't mean you shouldn't derail her. I mean, you respect her authority over the running of the site, but you shouldn't be scared about messing up her plot. In fact, that should be your goal. As I told people on Erisdar, your goal should be to make her say things like; "Wait, but that will totally mess up the... Oh, fine." Because that usually leads to better ideas than what was originally intended. If her eye is twitching, that's a good sign. -pops out-

Thank you kindly, Angmor. =) That is EXACTLY what I was doing to HIS main plots on the old site, you guys, and our threads together in general. I'd toss something completely ballistic in and he'd be ripping out his hair and smashing his head on the wall, which is a GOOD THING. We're all equals in an RP, so you shouldn't fear my wrath. I'd only question it if you dropped in something really, really, REALLY completely weird, like a flying taco wearing pantaloons, but chances are I might even find a way to factor that into the thread. MPs were never meant to make a lick of sense, after all. XD

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that the thread is once again up in Aroughs. Post away if you haven't already, or modify your post as you see fit!

Well, this is the idea I'm gonna toss out.

For some reason, I keep envisioning something like Lost when I think of this thread. Sort of. So they're stranded. On an island where all the inhabitants mysteriously committed suicide. What if the thing that caused the inhabitants to do that starts to kinda creep in and take hold of us all? And it's a madness caused by...the Chalice! A defense mechanism of some sort? >.> Anyways, I see paranoia, backstabbing, and dramatic discovery of the Chalice! Which leads to more paranoia, backstabbing, and general insanity. Guardians of the Chalice appear! Epic fighting ensues.

Of course, how each character reacts doesn't have to conform to this formula. But I thought it might be an interesting concept to play with.

Heres anther idea that i'm just throwing out there,
That maybe there's a cult on the island that is built around the chalice. Just and idea, i don't know any details.

I'm going to add my thoughts here by adding to the idea that Ell suggested since I'm quite fond of things like that. Though perhaps it's not the result of the chalice itself, but of some kind of other object that affects different people in different ways. Not sure how to expand on that specifically to be honest, but it's progress xP

Hell, you could probably say that the mass suicide was the result of said spell (call it that for now) going active and requiring a huge amount of energy to keep itself sustained indefinitely... Not entirely sure how it'd work, but again, progress. >.>

Now, onto the effects itself, I've got the basic idea that perhaps the speed of the affliction varies from species-to-species. Perhaps Humans being affected the fastest moving up the scale to having Dragons affected the slowest (or even not at all, perhaps they're strong enough to unknowingly resist the effects of the spell or something.)

Or you could go in reverse, either way would be an interesting RP experience XD

I'm not entirely sure how I could add to what Ell's already said the affliction does to people without adding something along the lines of hallucinations(lol) or perhaps the said spell could even play off the fears of people which causes some other crazy stuff to happen.... Like I said, I'm not sure how to expand on that, perhaps if I played around with the idea a bit I could come up with more...

Hmm, that's all I have in mind right this second, I'll add more as I think of it. xP

To Ell, Tris, and Amu, these ideas are all really, really good. Since I do want the thread to get going though, I want YOU guys to toss those ideas in yourselves since they're in your head, and I wouldn't be able to portray them the way you would. And then the rest of us will build the rest of the thread around them, and that's how RPs work. =D

Nayeli and Tris, please post in the thread and everyone else, you can edit yours as you see fit. =D Then I'll post again!

In other words, pick an idea, any idea, and run with it!

Seriously, you don't even all need to be running with the same idea! You can all do different things, and so long as you don't ignore each other, you'll come up with a cool amalgam of a bunch of ideas that will be even more fun! The greatness is in the discovery.

Alright, so I would like to join the MP. I have some ideas that would be fun tossing in with all the other fun stuff I've seen and I think I could add something to the craziness. However, I don't want to slow it down and I won't be able to post until July 10 at the earliest. So if that is too long just let me know!

That's fine with me, Arizae! You can just post the next round, which probably won't happen till after you're back anyways. ^^

Okay, sounds good! I've had Nemo and Ikehr muse spilling out of me for DAYS now so I'm probably going to start my post, but it won't be up till Wednesday to give those who haven't posted a chance.

Also, just as a heads-up about my characters in particular, I've rendered Wengsi inactive so she won't be in the thread anymore, and I just redid Myaja's entire profile if you want a quick peek. That is all. XD

Alright, since Arizae seems to have gone missing and Nayeli has officially gone inactive, I'm allowing maximum three people to jump into Setting Fire to Canvas. You can use as many characters as you want, and you can either have them run into me and Elloria and Amu's people or they could have been with our characters since they first stepped onto the ship, your choice. ^^
