Name:Phantom Rak Knurl
Age:90
Race:Dwarf
Occupation:Blacksmith
Allegiance:Human capital
Physical Description:Never shall you see Phantom Rak Knurl without a mask on. On the inside of the mask is inscribed dwarven runes for protection, strength, knowledge, and patience. The mask itself is made out of a mixture of soft wood and steel to strengthen it from being broken. The mask itself is completely neutral. It is a silver white in color. Above and around the eyes there are designs making his face more mysterious, for you can only see his lips exposed, but with him painting his bottom half of his face the same silver as the mask, and painting over his lips black and adding a little extra to it it is impossible to tell what his skin color is.
Phantoms hair is jet black, and falls all the way down to the floor, it is clean by being in one long braid that he often wraps around his shoulders before letting it fall to the floor. For clothes he only wears the clothes of his trade and never showers except for the first of the year, seeing his work more important then taking a shower only to get dirty once again the next day when you go to work. The eyes that look out at you through the mask are a dark emerald green and are warm all the time.
Personality:Phantom Rak Knurl is a very simple dwarf. As long as he gets to forge he is happy, nothing else really to it. He spends all the time he can at his work, hammering away at pieces of iron, and molding them into the shapes he wishes. Though his appearance and true name are wrapped in complete mystery he is known for his warm kindness, and always being willing to share a story when he works, though never of his homeland, or even how he learned his skills, those he guard like a dragon guards it young, for it is that little piece of him that no one can take away. Though he is kind hearted and all he is like many dwarfs very greedy on things of beauty, and has a hard time parting with those works of art that he makes that he believes to be perfect. Whether or not he is willing to settle down is a complete mystery to even himself for he gives his life no time to think, only work to escape his fate as an exile.
History: Phantom was born the child of two very superstitious deep dwarves. Though no where close to wealthy, Phantom never went without what was needed. At a very young age his parents saw the skills of a blacksmith in him and decided it was a sign from the forge father for then son to be a blacksmith.
At age 20 Phantom was apprenticed out to a well known dwarven smith. From the smith he learned all he could about the fine arts of smithy, but he was never satisfied with what he knew, always looking for better ways to make his items. Stronger materials, more pure gems. It was like the boy was possessed by the god of forge himself with his critical eye to things. Nothing was good enough to him, and that led to many failed and wasted iron in his eyes as he finished one project and sold it right away because it was not good enough, always at a low price. This led To more and more people going to buy his products though, and with that came hatred from his mentor and other smiths. At age 30 Phantom had his first encounter with the kings tax collectors and after paying his dues was even more broke then when he had began over ten years ago in the trade. With no money, Phantom moved back in with his parents, down deep inside the mountains. There he found many unique metals and made beautiful jewelry which he sold in the markets above, and when not at the markets or in his smithy Phantom was in a tavern telling tales. He was the bunt of everyone's jokes, and not many people paid much attention to him until he began to raise his prices.
When he did people began refusing to buy his works, saying they were not worth what he asked for and so when he went home one day his parents told him , " Leave us and do not return until the gods have once again smiled on you as a master Smith. And with that they threw him and all his belongings out of there home.
50 years had come so quickly to Phantom that he knew little of what to do after his parents had thrown him out to make his own place in the world. At first he tried learning from the other dwarfs in the dwarven kingdom, but soon learned they had very little to teach him that he had not learned from his first master. So after much deliberation he packed his things and began his way to the world of the elf's. It was true dwarves and elf's hated each other with a passion, but he hoped that after sometime, one of them would grow comfortable enough to teach him there ploy of the trade. So before he left he forged himself a mask to hide his identity, and bought all neutral clothing so that his gender would be unreadable, and thus set out for the great woods.
It took Phantom weeks to get to Du WeldenVarden, but when he did he was greeted only with open content, and most often arrows shot from hidden assassins in the trees. But after a year of traveling on the outskirts of the woods, he found Ilia Feon. Here they were less raciest towards him, though they still were not the most welcoming. Slowly but surly Phantom began looking for a teacher, that would teach him how the elfs were such beautiful crafters, selling his own wares as he waited to be taken on as an apprentice by one of them.
For twenty years Phantom was left alone by the elfs, to work with his own trade, not one offered to help him in any way, though they never sabotaged his works like in other places in Du Weldenvarden. Finally at the end of the great Blood oath celebration that he was told he could not go to, an elf took him on to be there apprentice, though it was not easy, for his mentor was much more adapt at what he was doing for he was centuries older then Phantom, he slowly began to learn. And it has been twenty years now and he still works under his mentor, selling his works to humans and elfs alike who happen to wish to buy them from him, though few humans do. Soon he hopes to go back home, to prove himself to his family and clan, that he was not a failure and that the forge father had chosen him for a reason.
