Name: Lily Brenna Hawkins
Age: 22
Race: Human
Occupation: Servant at royal palace in Broddring
Allegiance: Broddring Kingdom
Physical Description:
Lily being who she is, she is never noticed by those in station above her, however she is well known to her fellow servants for her gentle and modest beauty.
She stands at 5'6," an average height, with a light, willowy build. She isn't very strong, not having much muscle bulk present on her arms and legs, with whatever is there being lean muscles toned by her work. As for her width she is pleasantly narrow, waist, hips and all. Her hands are neither small nor large, just in between, with long fingers perfect for a musician.
Her skin tone is a tad lighter than a tanned beige, spattered with slightly darker freckles along her nose and top of her cheeks. She has large expressive eyes and a straight perky nose, coupled with the almost permanent smile on her small pink lips she looks constantly happy.
The most endearing features she possess are, however, her hair and eyes. Her eyes are the hue of a glittering emerald that appear almost like faceted the way they flash different shades in different lights and angles. As for her hair it is a cascade of layered light brown hair that reaches not far past her shoulder, the tips curl slightly, giving it a deceptively wavy appearance.
Lily considers herself quite blessed in the fact that she has adequate clothing, unlike many of the commoners and farmers that live around Alagaeisia, and especially better than most of the city-folk. She owns two common, everyday work dresses, with three-quarter length sleeves and a modest design and color, for working in the kitchens or cleaning various rooms of the castle. She also owns very nice dress for when she serves the king or his company in the banquet hall. It is a deep rich green color, with full-length sleeves that flair out at the ends. For the cold of winter she owns one black wool cloak, and one pair of boots, to warm her feet better than her habitual slippers ever would.
One can't forget of course the weapon which she carries. After all, everyone carries some sort of weapon for protection. It is not a large sword, or an elegant bow, instead, just a simple dagger. A nondescript slate grey blade, sharpened effectively, and a small, black-bound hilt. She hides it among the folds or her skirt, or in her sleeve when she wears her special dress.
Personality:
Lily has always been and always will be a simple girl. Not in looks or in learning, but just in ways. She never likes to complicate her life and keeps it all down on a basic level. She has her beliefs on how society and life should work and keeps to them staunchly.
One of her strongest feelings is that of loyalty. She feels that she owes much to the king and to the palace staff, that gave her and her parents a home and work. This loyalty means she defends them even when she knows they are wrong.
Next is her insatiable curiosity and wish to learn. She is always asking questions of her elders and searching for different interesting things. She has a love for history and as a child asked her father again and again to tell her stories of the riders and the elves and all the other magical races of Alagaisia, which he obliged. Yet this curiosity is halted by the fact that she cannot read and therefore she cannot find out more from the many books that exist. Though she one day dreams of mastering the art and maybe being able to write some herself.
The one thing that contrasts her age and makes her seem younger then she is, is her naivete. Her parents protected her from the violence and the cruelty of the world when she was young, and somehow she escaped it in the castle. Though truthfully how that happened most would be surprised of. No man has ever touched her, and it is a good thing. Her whole life would be destroyed if it were ever to happen without her love and consent for the man. Many of the other woman have counseled her to marry, but she refuses, saying that she is not yet ready.
It is a very rare occasion when Lily is not smiling and whistling a happy tune. She is an endlessly optimistic person, with a servants heart to boot. SHe will occasionally have snort lapses in happiness, when she is quite and serious, remembering the death of her parents, and the sadness of being an orphan. She seems to love her occupation. She has a variety of different duties around the castle, including working in the kitchen, cleaning, serving in the dining hall when company comes, and other assorted duties.
History:
In many ways, Lily's family was used to being around royalty and nobility. Her father, Garren Hawkins, born as the fifth son of a minor noble, was raised knowing riches, but also knowing they would never be his. Determined to be able to make his own way in life he studied hard as a young man and became a scholar.
Unfortunately, being a scholar didn't bring as much money as he thought it would. He was forced to learn the talents of scribe and to lower himself even more so he could go asking for jobs. He had only temporary jobs, for scribes were professionaly open and were called when needed. It was during a slightly longer stay at a noble's house that he met Lily's mother Estelle, with glittering starry eyes.
They married, but this meant that she was thrust out of her job and her home. Now Garren had to provide for two of them. After a long period of suffering and saving he was able to rent a small house, where he set up shop. This is where Lily was born and spent her first seven years of life.
Her parents were simple folk and decided to name their daughter simply, after a flower. They both had to work long, long hours to provide for their family. Meanwhile Lily grew, helping her mother and learning to serve. Many times she asked her father about books and teaching her to read, but he refused. One, for lack of time, and also for the fact that he feared that she might get into trouble if she were able to read.
For Seven years their lives were tranquil. They kept Lily away from the dark seedy places of the city, more often at home than not, and did the best they could for her. But one day it just wasn't enough. They were evicted and in desperation Garren appealed to his father, who managed to find a place for him at the palace as a scribe and a place for his wife and daughter as well.
Moving into the palace changed much. They began a higher mode of living than they had ever since Lily had been born. They had three square meals a day, decent clothes, and their own places to sleep. It was nothing compared to nobility, but it was much better than before.
Soon Lily grew out of her childhood, and became a beautiful young lady. Many woman on the staff were wondering if any suitors might come looking for her hand. Some did, but she turned them all away, saying she wasn't ready yet. The men left, but many still have their eyes on her from afar.
It was at eighteen that her parents died, both taken by a sickness in winter. She nursed them continually, day and night, but it was no use, she could not help them. She grieved for a long week, crying many tears. She was given the choice of remaining at the palace as staff, and she agreed.
It took her three years to recover from her parents death, and the following year she was still saddened, she has only recently regained her usually happy self. Now she does what she has always done, work, and live happily with her lot. It is not her place to complain.

Lily straightened and passed the back of her hand over her forehead, wiping away the sweat that had accumulated there. She had been on her knees scrubbing floors all afternoon and now her knees were aching. She smiled, cleaning was her least favorite task, but she still did it gratefully. After all what else could she do?
She stood, grabbed the handle of her bucket and plopped the cloth she had been cleaning with inside. Then she left the room. Oh the room had been larger than some of the bedrooms in the castle and it had taken her a good long while to get it spotless, but now it looked fit for a king. Well not that good, but it sure looked good enough for a foreign dignitary or a noble. At least that's what she thought the room would be used for, she had been asked to prepare it today for an unknown guest. It really was a beautiful room, with light blue walls and dark wood furnishings with dark blue accents. The canopy bed that seemed to take up at least a fourth of the room was soft and plushy. Lily had always wondered what it felt like to sleep in a bed like that.
Remembering she had elsewhere to be, she turned and left through the wide mahogany door, and into the palace hallways. She was going in the direction of the kitchen, slipping through the many twisting and sometimes confusing hallways through the long practiced route. She admired the beauty of the palace, though it was not nearl as beautiful as some said it was before Palancar's slaughter. She could see somehow what they meant. In some places, walls were cracked, niches that might have held valuable works of art were empty, and many windows were either cracked or broken.
She wished she could have lived before the great darkness that was Palancar's slaughter and seen the might if the riders abroad. Yet she also agreed with Palancar, why couldn't humans be riders? After all there were humans who had magical abilities. Oh, it was rare yes, but it was also possible. Humans would not stop until they got what they wanted, that much was absolutely sure.
Lily realized she was approaching the kitchens and brought herself back to the present, smiling happily and almost skipping in to ask for her next assignement. After all these troubles were far away and had nothing to do with her, why should she be worried?
