I've been thinking about the characters on this site, and the various users that play them, and I actually quite enjoy some of them, but you know what?
I noticed a lot of similarities in various player's characters. Which is only natural in that they wrote them, and they write what is comfortable. I do the same, although I have been trying to do different things with mine, such as Clarus who knows no weapons at all, only magic and greed, and Amelia whom has an internal struggle over the rape, and a deep seated aversion to violence that she is getting passed.
That brings me to why I am posting this. I have been thinking about things, and came up with an idea. I want a little more variety from user to user, as it allows the writer to then grow in their writing skills, which a goal of mine to help you all with. So, I propose a contest!
I am going to be reading the character bios as they come out, and I am going to be looking at their... differences to the other characters that user plays. I am going to read them carefully, as always, and when I feel like that player has truly stepped outside their bounds I am going to do one of two things:
1. I will vote for that user in their dragon app, if they apply within the month that they win.
2. That character will become the example profile for the month, depending on the quality that comes out on the end. I'm sure this one will be fine, because if I truly think your stepping out of your bounds and that character is worthy to be accepted, it sets an example for all users.
Soooo! I will be nominating one once a month (hopefully, but it depends on the influx of characters), and for a month after that date, I will institute that yes vote on my part, and change example profile. There are a few rules however.
1. The character that you pm me and say "I think this is worthy!" (and you gotta do that) must be your third character or afterwards so that there is comparison. Preferably 4th +
2. It is allowed but not suggested to apply twice in a month. Thats trying too hard, and gives you a surplus of characters that you dont know what to do with.
3. I will be the only one picking this award, and I alone. Please also note that just because I will say yes doesn't mean Emma and Nayeli will, and it requires two yes votes to receive a dragon.
4. The winner is not guaranteed the example profile spot, and the example profile spot is not always going to be the monthly winner of this.
5. If you can't apply for a dragon and you win, sorry, I wont say yes until you are in compliance with the requirements for ridership.
So! Let the games begin! I can't wait to see the new stuff. I hear-by throw down the gauntlet and dare you to amaze me.
