Name: Zahara, means 'Light' In Hebrew
Age: 18 years
Race: Human
Occupation: magic user
Allegiance: Unknown yet to be decided
Physical Description: Zahara is soft-spoken, with what most claim is the voice of an angel. She stands at about 5" foot even with long chocolate brown, wavy hair. Her eyes are hazel, and often change color, from a murky green, to a tainted blue color. He skin is not dark, yet not fair either. It is a bronzed tan color. Her eyes are slightly angled at the edges, giving her a slight elven look.
She is slender, and slightly lanky. Most who see her describe her as beautiful, and even mystical, though they often have no clue of her abilities with magic. She is graceful and agile. She is a skilled fighter, though most wouldn't know it from her looks. Her eyes are always scanning, looking for potential danger, and always seeking an emergency exit, and things to use as weapons.
Zahara wears black, or dark colors most of the time. Sometimes s wears a thick woolen robe, like mages are often thought to wear, but most of the time she tries to keep her skills hidden. She is usually seen wearing a long dark colored dress. It shows her slender form to the waist, where is flows out slightly, making it easier to walk quickly if needed. Her sleeves go always to her frail wrists, and are slightly loose. Her chest is lightly exposed, and is covered with lace. Zahara is usually armed, hiding many daggers along her small form.
Personality: Zahara has always been one to keep to her self. She is friendly, and willing to work with others, and will deal with most all races, but she rarely giver her allegiance to another. She is untrusting of any bindings, and often refuses to get close to anyone who might expect anything of her.
She is quick thinking and cunning. She often acts innocent, claiming to have no idea what is going on in the lands around her, but she is quite well informed in most cases. She is a skilled fighter, and often thinks of herself as a rebel in hiding. Her mind changes often, so she never stays in one place for long. Though her mind is always changing, her loyalties are much more set. Although she might serve one person for a while, then change sides, her reason for serving is usually the same, and will achieve the same end result.
History: Zahara never met her parents. Her mother was a healer, her father a soldier. They met after a battle, in which her father was nearly killed. His mother saved him, but had made him promise to run away with her, and to quit fighting as a soldier. They were together for nearly a year before they were discovered. Her father stayed behind, giving her mother to escape. He was taken prisoner, he was questioned, but refused to answer. He was tortured, and finally died.
Her mother managed to find safety with a fellow magic user. The lady was older, old enough to be a mother to the runaway. The older lady was named, Boudicca, which means victory. Soon after, Boudicca told the younger woman that she would soon give birth. Zahara's mother was named, Karen, meaning 'ray of light'. Karen weeped when she heard that she carried her lost lover's child. She told Boudicca the story of her and Lavi, meaning 'lion', her lover. She told the older healer that she was unable to care for the child, that they had to find another hoe for it. It was agreed that Karen would leave right after birthing the child, and Boudicca would find a wet-nurse for the babe, telling her that the child was left alone at her door.
Boudicca raised Zahara, naming her the name her mother requested. When Zahara turned ten, her mother returned. She was dying, and wanted to tell her child her story before she died. That very night Karen passed. Boudicca had been teaching her about herbs, and healing without magic, but that night, after she had seen the bravery and strength Karen had possessed, she knew that she had to test Zahara, and train her if she had the gift. She did, and from then on they trained together. They soon realized that Zahara was gifted far beyond the older woman, and by age seventeen, Boudicca was out of things to teach her. She continued to guide the young lady until she reached eighteen. Zahara still lives with Boudicca, but she now travels often, learning what she can from those she meets. Boudicca had her his her magic, but when she turned eighteen, she told her that she would have to go to the Riders. The old lady was afraid of what would happen to the girl, but that was the only way for her to have a chance, or to make a difference in the events of Alagaësia. Zahara left, headed to meet with the Riders.
Roleplaying Sample: "Rhys squinted to see what had upset Knurl. Night had set and the rain had been pouring since earlier that day. The chestnut charger had stopped in the middle of the forest, sensing something up ahead. Rhys looked, but saw nothing. Then lightning lit the sky, silhouetting a figure in the distance. Darkness returned accompanied with the loud crack of thunder. With Rhys' coxing, Knurl started to move forward, stopping at every step to flick his ears and to breath in, checking for danger. Snorting, he would continue another step, then repeat the process.
Rhys was unsure of the figure, but was sure that the stranger had seen them like they saw it. He shivered as rain seeped into his clothes, cold water streaming down his tired body. He urged the stallion on, whispering in Dwarvish to the frightened horse. What ever lay ahead of them, they would face head on, together. The sooner they knew what was waiting for them, the sooner they would know how to react."
