(OOC: "This is in Itas, the native language of Raiden/Genji/etc." Pretty much anything in just italics, sans color, is a native 'Itas' word.)
Raiden strode through Teirm’s massive marketplace. His eyes continuously darted around the market, seeking enemies he felt were there but he had yet to see. He paused in a stall to look at some useless trinkets briefly before moving on. Rikuto and a young slave girl followed just behind him, each leading several pack animals laden with various goods. Rikuto’s brows were furrowed very slightly as they weaved through the crowds with Raiden. She, like her fellow guards, was deeply concerned for her companion. Even Kazan-sama had noticed that the stoic assassin wasn't his usual quiet, indulgent self. Raiden knew of their concern. He acknowledged that it was for good reason. But he couldn't bring himself to reassure them that he was all right. Such a thing could not possibly exist after an encounter with Malandra.
He visibly shivered as the thought of her crossed his mind. Rikuto reached out and gently tapped his shoulder, causing him to jump slightly. He turned around and looked up at the taller woman. She jerked her hand back quickly. “What?” he snapped. Her eyes dropped to the ground and she shuffled her feet sheepishly. “You have not been yourself, Raiden-oppa,” she said, her voice rough and low. “Always skittish and ever looking for a threat to fight. Or worse, completely unobservant. That is not your way. I...we...worry about you. That is all.” Raiden let out a heavy sigh and ran a hand through his hair. ‘So they’re going to call me out on it.’ He turned from Rikuto and resumed walking without uttering a word. ‘I have absolutely no intention of discussing it without a direct order from Kazan-sama. Not yet, at least. I need to sift through the mission...make sense of it all...it’s too soon.’
Lost in his thoughts, Raiden did not at first notice a commotion up ahead. He really just wanted to return to the Citadel at this point. They had retrieved everything Kazan-sama had requested. What further need did they have to remain? It wasn't until Rikuto grabbed his shoulder to jerk him out of the way that he realized anything was amiss. And even then, all he initially saw was a brief blur followed by a larger blur. He turned with a frown. “Someone is being chased,” Rikuto remarked casually. “Shall we pursue?” Once more, Raiden made no response. He simply took off. Rikuto pulled her poleaxe from the pack of one animal, instructed the slave girl to stay put and took off after him.
