Furious she cast away her birth name and began traveling the continent. Always on the hunt for power, to over throw her brother and take what she deserved as the eldest child. After she first left her parents home in Kirtan Artemis's nature began to change, from the student who once loved magic for magic itself, she was now one of the most determined elf's in the world. She spent most of her time learning from the sages in Du Weldenvarden before she began to spread her search elsewhere. Because of the beast trapped within her, sometimes it takes over and that is when Artemis is truly dangerous for one can not expect to understand an animals mind completely unless they themselves are one.
History:Artemis nights history is a long and dark one. She was born to a noble family that had refused to leave their homeland when the blue divide began. And since it has ended have still kept there seats as guardians of the city. When Artemis was only 20 she had a great aptitude for the world of magic and did many wonders others could not explain. Happily the riders took her to train but were not satisfied as they trained the girl who had shown so much potential and had failed all there test so horribly. They knew she had the power to beat all those around her in at least the art of magic, yet she seemed to only care about using only the finer, more basic forms of the art to create things of beauty instead of doing as her teachers told her to do.
It only got worse when her parents second born got into the school. She was now forty, still a teenager, and her little brother was still only a youngling of twenty. Where the teachers saw failure from her they saw such a bright future for the boy. He was everything his sister was not and more, and this grew a jealousy in her so pure that her teachers refused to allow her to be alone with him, for fear she may try to kill him. A fact they never could prove though for she always kept her wits about her and none could get into her mind.
When she graduated her grandfather who was a rider took her home upon his dragon and for a time she was content. Living in Kirtan and studying under some fellow mages from time to time as she saw fit to be able to use what spell she liked more precisely. But yet again her younger brother stole the glory from her when he came home second in his class. Infuriated by this Artemis tried to trick the boy and so had him attacked by some very unsavory people. But instead of killing the boy they had only succeed in making him more powerful. When Artemis's parents found out what she had done they stripped her of her inheritance and gave all of it to her younger brother.
That same night while her parents were sleeping she stormed out of there home and left the city of Kirtan with enough supplies to make it to one of the twelve mightiest spellweavers in her land. Once there she begged him to train her, and he agreed under the condition that she must do whatever he told her no matter what while under his tutelage. She accepted without a second thought and swore herself to him in the ancient language until her training was complete.
When she finally left her first teacher she was one hundred and twenty and so refusing to set foot back inside Kirtan until she could kill her fickle parents as well as her spoiled brother she went on to her next tutor. But he turned her down seeing the darkness in her heart. And so Artemis continued this until she had learned from the greatest teachers of the elf's, learning all they knew and then she traveled to ilirea and asked the riders to train her once again, and swore to be a better student. One of the younger riders took her under his wing, showing her pity against the elders wishes. And from him she learned many great things, including how to store magic in objects so that she could use it at other times. Once her training was done Artemis set out on her most difficult task yet. To find a shade and have him teach her his arts, and to do this she would have to go into enemy land. And so here she is at the age of 250 looking for a shade to teach her his dark arts so that she may take her revenge on the world that had been so cruel to her.
Roleplaying Sample: Artemis watched from the trees just outside the lantern lights of the town guards posted on the walls to the city of Gil'ead. She had been given a hint that there was a contact in the area that knew of where she may find a teacher, but it would cost her a pretty penny to acquire the information. " Well I could always let him live." Artemis smiled for she carried no money on her, and was infarct dirt poor. The only ties to wealth she had were the clothes that she wore, and the daggers strapped to her boots. Silently and deliberately she made her way past the guards and into the house in which the meeting were to take place. Once inside she felt the mans presence and knew he could not use magic. In the ancient language she cast a spell to silence all sound in the house from the outside world and then erected wards around her to protect her from harm. Once she thought she was ready she made her way into the room that had a fireplace that was roaring with life in it and took a seat opposite her contact. " Do you have my information human?" Artemis asked the man sitting across from her. " Do you have the payment." He shot back at her only to get a impish grin from her face. " No I do not, but I can guarantee it would be in your best interest to tell me anyway." Artemis smiled as she took a dagger from her boot and threw it high into the air and caught it with ease.
Do to Artemis's special blood she has enhanced eyesight and hearing, even for her race. Also Artemis can shift at will between her elf form and her panther form, but unlike her father she can not become a hybrid of both races. While in animal form she can attack with the claws and fangs of the panther as if they were natural weapons to her, and on occasion buys weapons that act much like her animal ones.
