... Don and I have devised a list of nuances that we'd like people to avoid in the future. This is NOT a restrictions list in any sense of the word- races and genders are pleasantly equal, and we are NOT asking any of you to change your characters. This is just a trend we've noticed, and we'd like future characters to follow a slightly different path.
Let's start with a personal annoyance of yours truly...
All the characters knowing in their hearts that the Riders are really the good guys. Which they are, but that doesn't mean they're above some pretty massive human error. This is for the past FORTY YEARS, taking up the entire life span of most human characters here and fresh in the minds of elf characters. While mass slaughter occurred for three decades, the Riders sort of squatted in Ilirea when they very obviously had the dragon-power to stop the war. But they didn't out of fear, and because the site would have no plot if they had. =) So, the Riders are perceived as cowards and traitors, and have done nothing to give them so many fans.
All the elves living in Broddring. This may be my fault at least partially, since upon reading the faction info I wrote I may have sounded like all the important stuff will be going down in the human lands. WHICH AIN'T TRUE. I'm also a criminal in this, since four of my six elves are based in Broddring. But two are countesses, so give me a break. XD Guys, if you were an elf, and you had Ilirea the Smart But Cowardly City, Du Weldenvarden the Beautiful But Full of Back-Stabbing Jerks Country, and Broddring the Filthy, Emaciated Land of War Refugees Ruled By Fat Jerks to pick from, where would you go? Ilirea is disliked and Du Weldenvarden is full of meanies, but at least you won't be starving and robbed in broad daylight. Not to mention that elves are burned at the stake over there.
Active participation in the factions. I'm the only one here with characters not out for themselves, and VERY few people are allied to the elven queen and the Broddring king. Seriously, go ahead and make some important characters! We need some counts and countesses, high-class entertainers, anything! As for our two original factions, the Hive and the Hand- they're totally unpopular too. I know, I know, religion isn't cool anymore. But the HAND... crazy blood magic! You don't have to even be a follower or be evil! And the HIVE... I was under the impression that for guys, the mafia is cool, and for girls, Amazons are. Or vice versa. PLEASE have some people take part in it.
