My head was killing me, I had been listening to fools most the day and mostly woman who were coming in and out of the building trying to see the beautiful Malandra. So many people wanted to see her, especially girls so they could figure out what they should wear. Men were always gawking at her and it was rather annoying. I could not take it anymore, I had to get out and get on the streets of The Tears and get some Fresh air. I moved through the Cathedral quickly and then out onto the streets. I wore my normal, a brown long sleeve tunic, brown pants, and boots, along with my dagger for protection. I was forty-six years old and was still bugged by people about why I was yet to be married. I tried to put it to the back of my mind and tried not to pay attention, but it felt like the older women were constantly wondering why.

I pushed through the crowd, moving around slowly. I was in no rush to get anywhere, I just wanted to get out and with me being in a large crowd, I could do that here. I had thought about stopping by the Counts place, I knew he was trying to get things back to normal in this city, but I decided not to go there today. I moved with a ease in my step, my brown eyes looking around and soon my hand dug into to my coin pouch to buy a apple from a vendor. I pulled out my dagger and began to cut it into pieces, eating each as I moved through the streets of The Tears, looking at the booths that were there.

It was amazing how many people worshiped Nyx, but I had no idea why... She was not really a Goddess, she was just a person in history that had lead about Self Understanding and Betterment. I was still trying to get tolerance down so I could understand, but I had at least been able to learn something while I was here. I turned the corner, nearly running someone over as I did and dropping my apple. "Oh, forgive me, I did not mean to run you over."

[orange]"Dare to try a game, my kind sir?"[/orange] Samuel stepped out from an alleyway, stepping to a much larger man then he was. A perfect catch. Too arrogant enough to realize his fat-ass needs new clothes, but walks with so much pride that he would never turn up a challenge.The larger man turned toward Samuel with a questionable look. He stopped, turned toward the teen, and took three large strides toward the alley. Samuel had caught him. As the man entered the alley Samuel took three steps back and lead the man a few more strides down, no one was around now.

[orange]"They are called dice, you roll them, and numbers appear.[/orange] Samuel joked sarcastically.

"Don't try to downgrade me you pathetic little twerp. I know what they are. What are the stakes," the man spat.

[orange]"That sack of coins you have there, for my life long servitude."[/orange] The offer had been extended, and the sweat began to appear on Samuel's face. He had practiced this hundreds of times, he was never one to go into a fair fight, but even now, hearing that he had offered up his entire life for a measly sack of coins showed how desperate he was. When your desperate, you can make mistakes. That's what he was afraid of. He knew he could easily win the game, but there was still a small bit left up to chance, how keen of an eye did this man hold.

[orange]"Simple enough, you roll first, then I roll. The one who rolled higher wins."[/orange] Samuel extended his hand toward the man, two normal dice. The man quickly snatched them up, weighed them in his hands a little bit, then quickly began to shake them. He let them drop down to the hard surface, watching as they continued to roll. Two fives.

"Ha! Seems to me that i'll soon have a slave." Samuel just shot a look at the man. It was time to make the switch, he turned his back toward the man to lean down and pick up the two dice. As he did he reached inside of his sleeve, withdrawing two different dice, and as he picked up the two that had been rolled, he let them slide down his sleeve. The sweat continued to drip down his forehead. As he snapped back up he shot the man one more look, he clearly had not noticed the switch. A quiet sigh of relief came from Samuel. He began to shake the dice around a few times then he let them fly, as they collided with the ground they rolled to two sixes. A shout came from the man. "Cheat! That's impossible!" He began to storm off.

[orange]"My money, sir,"[/orange] Samuel extended his hand out and snatched at the man's shoulder, who threw a backhand around. Sam was able to duck under it right in time, and in turn drew a dagger. The man lunged forward, but Samuel stuck him right in his gut. He wheeled back in pain, slowly dropping to his knees, then his face collided with the pavement. Shaking, Samuel ran up to the body, the hot blood began to cover his clothes as he searched the body for as much as he could. A few gems, a sack of coins, and a very well-crafted sword. He slung the items in various pouches throughout his deer-skin clothes, and turned to run away. As soon as he stepped out of the alley he looked left, then right. No one seemed suspicious of anything. As he turned to start hiding in with the crowd he heard a scream, then as he snapped his head back infront of him, he collided with someone.

[green]"Oh, forgive me, I did not mean to run you over."[/green] The man said as he kicked an apple away. As Samuel's bottom collided with the ground the sack of coins fell out of his clothes and hit the ground. He frantically recovered them, standing up as tall as he could.

[Orange]"O- oh... N-n-no big deal, sir. I apologize,"[/orange] Samuel knew his place in this town. He was no noblemen. He could get smacked around, treated like dirt as much as anyone wanted. He came here as a last option, his last chance to try and earn some money and finally eat some decent food. Look where it had gotten him. Standing infront of a noblemen, after just murdering one. His head was spinning, he could not believe what he had just done. His stomach turned, and Samuel tried his hardest to hold it in. He was able to keep back the vomit, but his face had turned green.

I had no idea what had just happened, but then again, I had not been present during the time, so the man who was scrambling at the money before me. I was about help, but the man was quickly done and he was standing before me. I looked him over quickly, everything about him still looked fine, but I wanted to make sure he was okay. I glanced around for a moment and then waited for the reply from the man. ”O- oh... N-n-no big deal, sir. I apologize," I nodded for a moment.

”Good, Thank Nyx you are okay… But, I feel bad… How about a meal, there is a good Inn not far from here, I do not mind buying.” I said to him. I meant was I spoke, I felt bad causing the slight trouble to the man and I was hungry and I was sure the man before me was. I looked around for a moment, seeing a few people walking around, a few glances towards me. I was not a well known man, but that was okay, I did not need to be well known to anyone. I wanted to become a man who upheld the religion correctly.

Samuel looked up at the elderly man. He did not seems suspicious of anything, in Samuel's mind he had sworn someone had heard what happened. Someone must have seen the body, and someone must be looking for him. In reality he was far from being caught. The city was littered with people. He knew someone would be upset, he even knew someone would look. But to find Samuel, and to convict a teen of murder would be ridiculous. He was fine, he just had to play it off. He took three huge breaths, and let his stomach subside. The color in his face began to return as he was able to catch his breath and evaluate the situation.

[green]Good, Thank Nyx you are okay… But, I feel bad… How about a meal, there is a good Inn not far from here, I do not mind buying.[/green]

Samuel looked up at the man, a confused look on his face. In this city, he would have been swatted aside, cursed at, embarrassed, then left in the dust. This man was apologizing, and offering Samuel a meal. As soon as the thought hit his mind his stomach growled. Turn down a free meal? After not eating in days, that would be crazy. He looked up at the man, swallowed, trying to wet his throat, but to no avail. [orange]"That would be g-great,"[/orange] Samuel was able to squeeze out. He lowered his hands and wiped the little bit of blood that had been on them on his pants. He was a little dirty, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Samuel joined the side of the man, waiting for him to lead the way. All he could do now was follow him. The only thing on his mind now was the food, he was starving, literally. He did not know what to say to the man, he had not had an actual conversation with someone whom he was not trying to con, or steal from. He honestly did not remember what he used to talk about. So much had changed since he left his home, he didn't even know what to think of his parents or the rest of his family. All he could do was wonder.
