Now, on several fantasy sites, half-elves are actually an entire race, usually created between humans and ‘humanesque’ elves like wood elves. This isn’t the case for the Inheritance world since there is only one elf race, and they largely look down on humans. I know that we’re allowing exotic races in here as long as they don’t overpopulate, but it’s commonplace for Inheritance sites to be infested with half-elves that have varying abilities and backgrounds that don’t work out. So, I’m going to take the liberty of mentioning CP’s half-elf rules.
Due to the prevalent hatred between both races, being conceived in the first place and escaping infanticide would be hard enough. If that doesn’t fail, half-elves also need to spend their entire lives hiding their true nature- the only two known half-elves in history both came to sticky ends. Half-elves are also unable to have children, and though their life spans are incredibly long, they are not immortal and grow old.
So, basically, what we’re saying is that half-elves are allowable as characters, but their early history needs to be pretty well thought out and they need to abide by Inheritance canon rules. And if we get a lot, there may be restrictions placed. Yes, it’s mean, but trust me when I say it isn’t a unique concept in the least, and unless it’s a pivotal part of your character I’d ask you to try something else.
