And this little bugger is why. Was watching Ancient Aliens on the history channel with my younger brother, and I got a plot rabbit. Eff you, TV. Eff you.

^Do you think we’ll see them again, brother-of-my-sister’s- husband?^
^I think we will, brother-of-my-brother’s-wife. They are intelligent, and we shall see them once more. The humans may one day be greater than us *Large-warrior-soldier-gods-explorers*#Dukatn# (Further note; the author shall translate words that don’t have an equivalent into a word using English spelling.)
^As you say, brother-of-my-sister’s-husband. Perhaps.^
^When will we accept them into Tingallian society?^
^I don’t know. They are able to mate with us, and they may prove most effective warriors. Perhaps when we make contact, we can convince them to join quietly?^
^Maybe. If that happens, it will be up to the Queen. We will have to teach them Tingallian customs. Come, let us return to Tingallian air and comforts.^
The two Dukatn reentered their ship, then left Earth orbit and the solar system, on their way back to the Tingallian space. The next time Earth would see a Tingallian? No one, Tingallian or human, knew.

“ENSIGN KELLY TO THE BRIDGE, ENSIGN KELLY TO THE BRIDGE.” The so named Ensign Kelly swore and rolled out of his bunk, narrowly dodging his roommate as he entered from his watch shift.
“Hey Alexander, wha’s the Captain want now?” Kelly shrugged, and then pulled his jumpsuit on. The twenty-year old ran out of the cramped room and began ducking bulkheads and hatch ways. A couple of senior ensigns and lieutenants yelled at him to slow down, but the young ensign ignored them. He emerged onto the bridge to find the displays lit up with warnings. Four unknown ships were approaching them, fast, and all were armed with weapons ready to fire. The Captain nodded to his XO, and then spoke to Kelly.
“Ensign Alexander Tyler Kelly. We’re very likely going to die. Those are some of the meanest warships I’ve seen, and I was around for the Insurrectionist Wars. So. This was originally a diplomatic mission, but I think it just took a turn for the worse. Therefore, as you’re the youngest officer, your new orders are to get into a vacuum suit and get off this ship. If we’re destroyed, your beacon will activate. If not, we’ll pick you back up. Good luck, Ensign Kelly. Irish, are you? You’ll need that luck.”
