Twinkle, twinkle little bat
How I wonder where you fly...
Like a tea tray in the sky
The blue sky seemed to stretch on forever, without a single cloud in sight. Endless blue, meeting a sandy horizon far off in the distance. Rippling waves of heat seared the land, but the dark blue, fuzzy shape on the horizon was like a strange beacon, beconing travelers forward. A sheer rock wall, craggy and viscious like the tooth of some strange hellish beast, led upward into the sky. Dark holes pockmarked the mountain sporatically, showing deep caves where even now there were still some glints of color where a loose scale had been snagged and torn away when the dragons of old had stayed as their home. At the base of the fearsome mountain was a cave, a hole that led straight down, deep into the earth. At first one would see nothing but darkness, but a subtle glow was rising out of the darkness within the cave.
Enchanted lanterns hung along the passageway, the sound of metal striking metal reaching the ears of whoever may pass along that way. The hiss of metal in water, the roar of flames. Within the passage, there were little side alcoves, branching off and headed far into the darkness where there was no light. If one would reach out with their mind they would find dark and hungry creatures, blind and viscious. Lost creatures that hadn't seen the light in centuries and ate whatever came their way. Creatures so old they had forgotten their own names, that they themselves had been forgotten to the world. But there was a large cavern towards the end of the tunnel. A high ceiling and wide, it was large enough to hold a forge and a small home. And that's where the creature making the noise was.
White hair and dark, deep set eyes. Tall, pale, and lithe. Healthy, strong, and half mad. He was a young elf man, with no shirt and no sweat coming from him, though he stood before a forge that blazed healthily. His eyes seemed like they were unfocused. One pupil fully dialated, the other completely undialated. But they were stuck that way. One was totally green, the other had a ring of a honey around it's pupil. Along the wall there was a ledge, at shoulder level. Along them were little figures...all crafted out of metal and beautiful. Some were common land creatures, birds and horses and deer; others strange sea creatures that had multiple limbs. All of them were delicately made, all of them very..odd. All of them made without a mold. A pool of water, very deep and very cool, was in one section of the cavern. A strange splashing noise came from it and the elf turned his gaze to it, chucking a piece of bread into it. "Quit making noise over there!" He growled at it, the splashing noise stopping as soon as the bread reached the edge of the pool. A small and slimy arm snaked out of the pool, grabbing the bread and pulling it down into water with it. But all of this was unseen by the elf. After all, he already knew what was in the water didn't he? But whoever might come down here and find him didn't and that was always a bit of a worry. But the elf enjoyed company and should any manage to find him, as unlikely as that was, he would be friendly and offer them some food or something. Maybe... [/color]
Oh don't mind him
