”Are we headed to the villas? Or do you have other business we need to do first?” Taured glanced back to his tall, dragon companion. He knew that in the villas, Varden would have an easier time walking around. Thinking about it briefly, he couldn’t think of any business that they needed to attend to. Smiling, he patted Varden’s side. ”We can head to the villas, should probably check up on the place anyways. It has been a year and a half.” Looking forward again, he turned left, heading towards the housing. It was odd, having the Riders provide villas for them. Why couldn’t they get their own place somewhere else? They probably could, but usually the other riders resided here. Were they the only two that wanted to go other places than staying in Ilirea?Nothing had changed. The last time they had to return to Ilirea was a year and a half ago and nothing had changed since then. Taured’s feelings towards remaining in the city hadn’t changed either. As soon as the meetings were over, they would head out and continue patrolling, searching, scouting, whatever it was the Riders sent him to do. Varden glanced down at the people as they walked through the main square. It was a rare sight to see a rather large, matured dragon about. There were many matured dragon Riders, but many of the dragons seen in the main square are hatchlings. It wasn’t easy for older dragons to walk through the space, with narrow aisles and loads of people, Varden had to watch to make sure he didn’t step on any small children. People gawked at him, making Varden a little uncomfortable. It had been awhile since he had this much attention.
Taking the key out of the sack strapped to Varden’s side, he unlocked the main gate, opening it wide for the larger dragon to walk past. It was a tight fit, but Varden was able to get through. If he kept growing, he would have to fly over the gates to get in. Locking the gates back up, he headed towards his house. There were accommodations for Varden beside the house, since he couldn’t fit inside anymore. A large, comfortable tent like structure, which connected to the house so Taured could easily get to him. ”I wonder if there are any new riders in the villa now.” Taured smiled to Varden. ”Maybe. I doubt we’d get to meet them though, hardly anyone knows who the Council of Resources members are. We’re gone so often.” He chuckled. Varden was always the protective and curious type. Meeting hatchlings always excited the Persian green dragon. Every time he got to meet a hatchling, it was as if he made it his duty to protect and teach the younger dragon. It reminded Taured of his father. Varden would make a wonderful sire, if only there was a dragon to be his dam.
Sitting on the front step to the house, Taured pulled out a piece of wood and a carving knife. Varden laid down close to the house, watching the sky as it changed colours, darkening into night. He hoped he would get to meet a hatchling, they were always so much fun.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
