It was the last day before Dantie was to leave Ilirea when the riders finally told him he could go into the room which held all the eggs. He was filled with both excitement and fear, for even though he was allowed into the stable like area, it did not mean an egg would hatch for him. As mid afternoon came Dantie finally found the courage to go and without further delay went to the most sacred place inside of Ilirea.
As he arrived he saw guards patrolling the whole entire area, no one would be able to get in or out without them knowing, and none would be able to steal an egg. Dantie smiled at that last thought for if the dragons eggs were to fall into the wrong persons hands it could be disastrous. Slowly he walked through the doors into the stable and stood flabbergasted at what he saw. "I never knew there were so many." Dantie said as his eyes roamed what seemed to be an endless room filled with dragon eggs. Slowly he made his way to the first batch and began running his hands across each in turn, praying to anything that would listen to him to allow a dragon to hatch for him so he would not have to go back to his family in Ellesmera for he was already promised to be a watcher in the woods if he was not chosen, and he could not stand the isolation from all the excitement that had transpired the past 75 years of his life.
As Dantie thought these things he opened up his mind so that all the dragons in the area would be able to judge him, so they had not only the slightest of touches but they could also go into his mind. After many hours Dantie sat on a bench, it was almost dark now and he had only one last batch of eggs to go to. Slowly he got up and laid his hand on each, hoping that one would open for him to release his partner in his quest for knowledge and to protect his friends and family.
