Name: Hyrr Geirr
Age: 79, looks to be about 18ish
Race: Elf
Occupation: Student of the Riders/Ilirean City Guard
Allegiance: The Riders and Ilirea
Inventory: Hyrr usually carries with him a large spear, which he has been training with since he came to Ilirea as a child to practice his magic, which is his favored weapon. He also usually keeps his specially designed sword by his side. It is a strange design, with a blade as long as that of a longsword, but somewhat thinner(though not as thin as a rapier or a saber), which he is also very proficient at using.
Physical Description: Hyrr stands at an average height of five feet and nine inches and has a very lean body as he weighs in at one hundred and fifty pounds. Like all Elves, he his much stronger than any human, although for an Elf he is about average. His body, though, does not reflect this. Hyrr looks thin, almost even scrawny, with his limbs being very lightly muscled. This has led many to underestimate him merely by appearance, a decision which almost all have come to regret after picking a fight with him.
Hyrr's facial features are rather typical for an Elf, the high cheekbones, sharp chin, and everything else all add up to a rather typical face for an Elf. He looks even more typical for his short-cut brown hair and brown eyes. What sets him apart, however, is the look in his eyes and the way he carries himself.
Despite the fact that he is young(for an Elf), when one looks at Hyrr, they can see the intelligence and confidence of this young man. He has a tendency to walk at a fast pace, even when he's just walking with no place in particular to go, like he has somewhere he must be, which lends an air of impatience to this Elf that is rather unusual among others of his race.
Hyrr tends to dress rather simply, wearing comfortably loose fitting pants, usually made of some kind of tough material such as maybe some kind of leather or tough cloth, and slightly-too-large shirts. For footwear, he wears a pair of short, but heavy black boots. His look is completed by the spear he keeps strapped across his back at all times, and the sword strapped to his left hip.
Hyrr also has a set of armor which he bought at great cost after saving up for years. It is a combination of padded leather and chainmail. It consists of a chainmail shirt with short sleeves, which is covered by a padded leather vest with a golden emblem of a dragon emblazoned on the chest. The legs are also chainmail, though lighter than the matching shirt, and have padded leather pads that go on the thighs. The shinguards are a combination of light metal plates and hardened leather
Hyrr also has a small scar along his right shoulder from an injury when he was younger.
Personality: Hyrr is a rather laid-back person, much more than most other Elves. While he himself does practice being very polite, like all Elves do, he is less apt to take offense to what others say or do. He has a tendency to be rather forgiving and is a highly moral person. If he sees something as being wrong, he will say as much and will be difficult to convince otherwise.
Despite his usual laid-back demeanor, however, Hyrr also has a bad temper. It normally takes a lot to push him to the point where he loses control of it, but on the rare occasion when he does, the best course of action is usually to walk away and leave him alone before he loses complete control of himself and decides to hurt someone.
Overall, Hyrr is a rather kind young-Elf. He is very genuine and honest, almost to a fault. He is a fiercely loyal friend, and wouldn't hesitate to help one of his friends when he saw they needed it.
Hyrr is also a very curious person, as he feels a need to investigate nearly everything that piques his interest. This has lead him on some very interesting adventures during his time as a student in Ilirea, and it still does, even though he is "technically" no longer a student.
He has a tendency to get very focused on whatever has his attention at the time, which for the past 54 years has been his study of magic.
History: Hyrr was born to an unremarkable Elven family. His mother and father were both wanderers, and were among those who enjoyed modifying their looks from what they originally were. His mother, since even before she had met his father, had taken on several physical traits of a cat, while his father had taken several traits of a wolf. It just so happened this turned out to be both of their fetishes, and so they decided to take each other as mates, and had Hyrr soon after.
He led mostly the same kind of life as his parents, although he didn't ever change his appearance to be like any animals. He did enjoy being with is parents, however, learning things of the woods. He learned which plants were good for eating, which ones were good for healing, and which ones helped cure sickness.
During this time, the Blue Divide began, the Humans and Elves warring viciuosly against each other. Hyrr and his parents fled from the borders of Du Weldenvarden, where they had been living, to deeper inside the forest. This, however, wasn't enough, for eventually they became trapped between a group of Humans and Elves. Hyrr somehow managed to escape mostly unhurt, except for an arrow in his shoulder. His mother, however, was not quite as lucky. She was unable to get out of the way quickly enough, and was killed by a volley of arrows being shot between the two warring groups.
Hyrr's father pulled the arrow from his shoulder and healed the wound left, though a small scar remained. He then took Hyrr far away from that same place, carrying the young Elven boy to relative safety in Ellesmera.
It was shortly after this that a Rider visited him and his parents, and took him back with him to Ilirea in order to study magic. When he arrived in the city/state of the Dragon Riders, he found the use of magic fascinated him. He studied hard, almost neglecting some of his needs in order to study.
Hyrr quickly rose up to be one of the top students of the Riders within a few short years. After this, he slowed down his studying some to follow other pursuits, particularly the use of the spear and sword. He wanted to learn to fight to keep what happened to his mother from happening to others he cared about. So, he began training with the Riders' combat trainees as well. Hyrr was not the best with a sword, but he was good with one. His true strength, though, was with a spear. When he had a spear he would give even the best of the trainees a difficult time.
He continued all of this for a full fifty years, until his time studying magic was up. That was when he elected to stay to study magic even further, despite the fact that he was not a Rider, and took up a job as a guard in the city. He still studies magic in his spare time
Roleplaying Sample: He landed on the floor with a thump and a grunt. He looked up at the instructor in front of him, holding his training sword out right where he'd smacked Hyrr in the chest with it. If it had been a real sword, the other Elf probably would have cut Hyrr in half. He looked over at his own training sword, which was laying several feet away from where he'd landed.
"Finally had enough?" the trainer asked, looking down at him.
"Not quite yet," Hyrr responded as he pulled himself to his feet. He kicked his training sword out of the way and moved over to the rack on the wall and retrieved an all-wood training spear. He tested its weight, spinning it around in his hands a little bit. It felt nice, almost like an extension of his arm. It had great balance, too. It would do.
He moved back to face the training instructor and took up his stance.
"Ready whenever you are," he said, keeping his eyes fixed on the other Elf.
Without even so much as another word, the instructor lurched forward, striking out at Hyrr with his training sword. Hyrr brought the shaft of his spear up to block it and shoved the wooden sword out of the way and rushed forward, slashing out with the wooden head of the spear at the instructor's middle. He leapt back out of the way, and Hyrr used the opportunity to thrust forward with the spear, landing a solid blow right in his chest.
The older Elf, with the wooden shaft still pressed against his chest, looking up at Hyrr.
"Much better Hyrr," the training instructor said, stepping back away from the wooden shaft as Hyrr withdrew the training weapon and stood back as well.
"Thank you, Ebrithil," Hyrr said, returning the training spear to the wall.
"Remind me never to make you angry," the instructor said with a chuckle, "It justmight end badly for me if I ever did"
"Eka Woehnata," Hyrr responded with a grin.
