Shades are rare but nonetheless powerful beings, and masters of the forbidden magics. Once humans or elves, they accidentally or purposefully summoned a number of powerful evil spirits that infested them and took over their bodies, souls, and often their minds, as well. Famed for their power and their evil, Shades are the most feared inhabitants of Alagaësia.
However, each Shade is very individual. The ones that truly become monsters, killing the person once inside or leaving them a shadow of their former selves, tend to be those who were invaded by spirits quite by accident. Those who willingly become Shades are often able to save at least a piece of their minds and souls, though none could be considered anything more good-natured than chaotic neutral. These are often the ones that remain unknown. All Shades practice the forbidden arts, however, and excel at them.
Shades are instantly recognizable by their appearance. All have paper-white skin that is highly sensitive to sunlight, and sunken features that can make them strangely beautiful or horrifically ugly. They are also very tall- even the females rarely range beneath six feet. Their hair and eyes are never usual colours- their hair is usually every hue of the rainbow while their eyes are normally black, violet, red, or golden.
Staff Notes on Shades-
- Shades are only below dragons when it comes to power. And so, there’s going to be a very severe limit on their numbers, and they will require impressive profiles. Currently, we have two Shades on the site.
- Also, Shades, or any immortal races in general, may not be older than 1000 simply because that would render them really freaking powerful.
- You cannot have a character turn into a Shade in RP. Who would actually reply to that? However, if you’ve been a participating member on this site and discuss it with the staff first, you may have an established, magical, non-Rider character become a Shade out of RP, and then bring them in.
