[/blockquote][/blockquote]It was odd, all these feelings that Riley caused within her. Why did it feel like butterflies were in her stomach at times? Like when he kissed her or touched her cheek, she felt butterflies. When he spoke, she felt her throat close tightly and her mouth go dry. He promised that she would make sure she could walk. Sure, he hadn’t said it in the ancient language, but she’d already decided to trust him, so she had no reason to request that he say it in the ancient language, she knew that he wouldn’t lie to her.
Watching him turn to face her, his lips touching her own, lingering longer than usual, Ana felt herself pressing against him, pushing her lips closer until she felt Riley pull away. What was with her? Where had this kind of reaction come from? She’d never wanted someone so badly to kiss her again. She’d never thought about kissing anyone until Riley came along. “I trust you, we’ll get it done right,” she grinned in response to his promise. As Riley turned around and faced the front again, Ana reached up to feel her lips. They tingled under her touch and she had to wonder if Riley were able to cast a spell over her because she felt enchanted right now.
At Anaria’s next question, Riley seemed to pause for a long time before answering. Was it hard for him to answer because of a certain reason? Ana didn’t know what to think as she waited for an answer. There were two reasons that he could be pausing. The answer was either yes and he was just thinking of a way to word the form of greeting among close friends. Alternatively, the answer was no and he was trying to word his feelings for her. She didn’t want to get her hopes to high so she tried to remain indecisive while she waiting for Riley’s answer.
She was holding her breath as he answered. He spoke normally, and then whispered that he didn’t kiss just anyone. She wondered if he was blushing at that. At his next bit of speech, Ana felt her own face grow hot. He wanted to court her? What did that mean exactly? Her father had spoke about courting before and suitors, but she had been really young when he would joke about it. She knew what the word meant but she was confused about what Riley was trying to say. Did he mean that he wanted to get to know her better before they got married? Wasn’t that thinking ahead a bit too much? The butterflies in her stomach seemed to jump to her throat, preventing her from speaking.
Taking a deep breath, she knew that she had to answer his stammer before it was left hanging too long and became awkward. “Um, I don’t know what to say. I mean—she paused—I like you a lot, and I have feelings that confuse me, but engaged, isn’t that thinking far ahead? Can’t we, take it slower?” Ana didn’t know if she was making any sense right now.
“I’m not sure what courting entails, my father never explained it to me fully, but I would love to get to know you better and more deeply, if that’s what you mean, Riley,”
