Name: Pan
Age: 870
Race: Elf....but distorted
Occupation: Protector of the forest and labyrinth, storyteller, guide
Allegiance: Himself, the forest, the royal family from where he remembers himself to be 'born'
Physical Description: Tall. Very tall. The first thing you'll notice about him. Then, perhaps the cloven hooves sprouting from his shaggy goat's legs. He has pale eyes, so light a blue that he seems almost blind at first. He has what looks like a smushed nose, and a maw that has strange teeth. His ears are rather like a goats, and he has long, long curling horns sprouting from his skull. Above his eyes, in the place of eyebrows, are swirling indentions, like wrinkles in a way. He has long, pale hair that sprouts down from his chin and head. He has long, long fingers that reminds one of spiders, that go along well with the rest of his rather lanky body. He has a shaky sort of walk, and always seems to be rather hunched over.
He carries with him, at times, a small dagger, with a long, thin and wicked looking blade. It doesn't look all that intimidating, but it's as sharp as any weapon that a soldier might use, despite his claims of being a peaceful creature.
Personality: Pan claims to be a peaceful creature, but in reality he loves chaos and war and riot as much as any god of insanity. He is seen as a gentle soul, often being incredibly helpful to whoever comes to him. He is aware that his appearance is overly startling, and many don't try and speak to him, resorting to running and telling tales of a tall creature that seemed as ancient as the trees in Du Weldenvarden. He loves to play the pipes, and more than one man has heard the haunting melody and been sent running from the eerie tunes and their unseen creator. He is, in reality, a very crazed and difficult creature to be around. Many cannot see past his helpful facade and are lured into the labyrinth, where more than one has died from starvation or exhaustion. He is overly fond of tricks and games, and enjoys giving those who come to him strange tasks to complete.
History: Pan was believed to have been born an elf, but the extent to where he modified himself has driven him to become a new creature altogether...He was born to normal parents and had a normal childhood. He was born before the war with the dragons and both of his parents were killed trying to defend the city. He moved on past that, meeting a young elf woman and falling in love with her. One night, he went to meet with her only to find her dead. Another man, who had wanted her for himself had killed her in order to spite Pan. His grief overtook him and he took to the forest, allowing the flow of magic to take over him and alter himself to fit the forest's needs and to be able to protect the things that he loved.
He spent several centuries, using magic to carve a labyrinth out of a small mountain and doing nothing else save eat and drink in order to keep up his strength to continue on with his work. When it was finally finished, the rocks were covered in mosses and vines, and it had a weathered appearance to it. Over the stone gateway to the maze...there was a stone carving that depicted a faun's head, maw open and eyes dark and staring. He took to the labyrinth, and in the center he began carving down deep into the earth from the stone.
It was a spiraling staircase, carved from the very earth itself. There was a statue at the bottom, a stone carving of the woman he loved, held in the embrace of a strange creature. The strange creature he had become. In the dark recesses of the room grew dark flowers, like morning glories. They were black, and faded down into dark purple, but by the time they reached the throat of the flower they had turned a dark midnight blue, with white stamen poking up out of the center. They were beautiful, with a sweet, heady scent that was almost like a drug. He roams the labyrinth and surrounding forest now, offering his advice to travelers and filling the air with his haunting melodies and despairing lullabys.
