(complete, even if I’m not satisfied, he’s a character easier for me to play than to describe. Will probably flesh it out and tweak minor details later, or if needed. Also the werecat was approved by Emma)
Name: Xaen
Age: Unknown
Race: Werecat
Occupation: Wanderer
Allegiance: Himself (is there any other option for werecats?)
Physical Description:
Like all werecats Xaen has two forms. And like many of his kind he looks like a child in his human form. Naturally he favors his true form, using only his childlike appearance when it suits him. The weak human form of necessity is a normal looking child. Not more than seven years old and just reaching four feet. The only factor that makes such a short being look older is his eyes and overall composure. At times he will act more childlike; he enjoys playing on people’s perception of innocent children. Catching them of guard is practically a hobby. Xaen can make his child form horrifying when it pleases him. Since the werecat’s own coat is black his human form also has a head of jet black hair. It sticks out crazily, every section seeming to have found a better way to go. There is a wild boy look about it, a feral child let loose on the world. Should the werecat wish he can make the hair tame. This happens at times when he wishes to blend in with those he may be dealing with. His teeth are straight and incredibly white, but there is something crooked in his smile and very distinct sharpness to his teeth. It would almost seem they are pointed. He can appear to be the perfect little gentleman, the son of a noble even. But his eyes never change, and though he may hide them, their pupil is always a slit. With those eyes and pointed teeth, it is needless to say Xaen’s child grin is very unnerving…
His form is willowy and quick. Some would think the human is starving, but it is all thin muscle for fluid movement. Not incredible strength mind you, but fit for acrobatics only achievable to a cat. His skin is pasty white, and yet melds into the shadows with the best of assassins. Xaen likes to forgo shoes thinking them evil and confining. The ground beneath his feet is a must, but he will suffer them when he needs to. His hands and fingernails also seem strange. If looked at closely they resemble claws, sharpened to points to keep some of their lethality. Xaen’s scratch as a child can be just as damning as one in his werecat form. For clothing he wears what he finds, normally black or dark green as he prefers those shades. One item remains constant, and it is the one human tool Xaen finds slightly useful. An unusual dagger with a design not common to any of the races in Alagaesia. The blade is slightly curved and the metal appears to be of unknown origin. The hilt is plain, wrapped in black leather and held together with deep green cord. The only decoration is an emerald set in the hilt, just where the blade meets. It is large enough to go through the entire blade and somehow the makers were able to build the blade into the hilt while still having the emerald shine through on both sides. The value of the blade is not in the deadly edge, but rather the enchantment placed on the emerald. For when the blade is thrown it will magically return to the hand of the wielder. Xaen was delighted to find out this bit and uses the dagger to maximum proficiency.
The one thing that does not change between the shift of form are his eyes. Which are an eerie and very deep emerald green. There is wisdom beyond the ages held within their depths and yet a very sadistic and cruel light as well. Xaen has seen much of the world, and he is bored easily these days. In human form his eyes seem strangely catlike, his pupils like vertical slits…and in his true form they are dangerous to behold. While in his true form Xaen keeps his coat clean, though the fur is longer and wilder than most of his kind. At times he can make himself look regal, normal, like any other pathetic housecat. But more often he keeps his fur longer and out of control. Twisting this way and that, his mane is hidden within the scruff and chaos that he is. Long tail and limber legs he is very adept at speed and silence. Years of experience have made him a shadow to the world and he can move without making a sound at incredible speeds.
Personality:
Chaotic. Xaen will be whatever he wishes on whatever day he wants. In order to keep life from being boring he has devised many personalities to keep him occupied. He rarely shows his true personality to any living creature. No dragon or elf would know the better anyway. However, above all Xaen is a manipulator. Whether it be with dragons, elves, dwarves or humans he will somehow get into their important matters and mess with something. It is highly entertaining to see something go wrong that everyone was positive would go right, and sometimes it can be just as fun to make something go right that everyone was certain would fail. He is a silent watcher when he feels there is something to be heard and he will speak very rarely to dull people. When he is tired of someone’s presence he will simply slink away or bite out their throat. He has little patience for the boring or mundane. Overall, Xaen’s personality is not one easily explained. One will understand this when they meet him, should they survive the encounter mentally and physically.
History:
Xaen will tell no one how old he is. But he has dropped jokes about the funny war between dragons and elves. Seriously who could be so stupid to do such a thing? However, he could just be speaking from knowledge of the histories…though what he does say seems eerily personal. He is at least older than many humans during this day and age. And he is no kit. No he has had plenty of time to spread his manipulative web throughout simple lives. A story he is quite fond of is the time he spent a few years in human form. He was able to make himself human enough to be adopted by a very affluent family. There he spent life as their ‘child’ and created chaos in their lives. By the time he was done with them and was bored of being their little boy they were beggars on the street with one blind daughter, and a dead son. All in all a very entertaining few years for Xaen.
Besides this caper he enjoys telling other random stories from his past, but besides his strange ability to be where everything is happening…well not much is known of him. Xaen knows what he has done in the past, but he will not tell the truth of it to anyone. He has been a thorn in the side of elves and a demon among the dark tunnels dwarves so enjoy. Once praised as a god by Urgals and a noble among humans. The werecat does so enjoy toying with the other races of Alagaesia. And so far he has kept his nine lives unspent. Surprisingly he has done some good here and there. It simply depends on what his mood might be during that day and age, or simply that first hour he encounters someone.
