Breathe… Focus… I continued to repeat the same thing over and over in my own mind… I felt empty, felt like I was alone and in reality I was alone. Sunglow was not coming back for weeks… This was not a normal hunting mission, this was a mission given to her by Almalexia, the might black dragon and also one of my own masters with her rider Anurin Sarethi. Anselm and Elisedd had been dropping by my own villa during the evening to check on me, but tonight, he would not find me. I had gone out in the city-state of Ilirea, mostly to just take a pleasant walk around. I had not been able to and this was my time to relax, even though relaxing was something I would probably not do.

I wore a black outfit today, but it was my normal. H had a piece of cloth that went around my torso area, covering the place that only my mate should ever see, if I ever got a mate. It was skin tight and allowed my lower back and stomach to show. My tattoo was just as beautiful as ever, the vines went down my arms and around my shoulder and a bit look like a necklace with a simple leaf upon it. Upon my head was a green vine crown, the emerald held in the middle of my forehead. The crown kept my long black hair from my face, but today, it was braided down my back beautifully. My emerald eyes searched the streets as I walked this evening, looking for anything out of the ordinary.

As I turned, I had to side step to avoid someone, my mood was not the best and I felt the woods rolling from my mouth. ”Hey! Watch it!”

The thing she had stepped aside to avoid was no human. It was not human, nor elf, nor any other manner of humanoid creature. It was, in fact, Eitauv. His amethyst colored scales glittered as he looked down at her, his big leathery wings folded at his sides. He was surprised that she hadn't heard the clicking of his claws as he had walked through the stone streets. He wasn't afraid of the humans, and in fact, challenged them to say a word about him being there. No, he loved to walk down the streets daily, watching people go by.

'Hello Tasia.' He thought to her, his tone seeming soft and rather gloomy. If it had a modern comparison, it would sound like he was in the mood of Eeyore. He flicked his tail tip back and forth. Honestly, he was almost taller than the two story buildings at the top of his shoulders, but the buildings around him were three story. How she didn't see him, he couldn't exactly fathom. After all, she had to have been able to hear his mind at some point, he hadn't been shielding it very well and random blips of thought had slipped through. He sighed, mentally and physically, looking the young 'hatchling' over. Yes, in his mind, Tasia was a hatchling. But only by default of how young she was and how long she had been a Rider. She seemed aggitated. He knew how she felt. The emptiness of having ones partner gone somewhere was a lonely feeling that the Bonded never wanted to feel.

I should have hit myself and hit myself hard. I was not even listening to anyone or anything around me. I was thinking to myself and my mind was not even on the fact that there was a huge dragon coming towards me. I knew who he was, but his thoughts were not even filtering into my own. As I side stepped, I noticed what I was side stepping was not a human being or even a elf, no it was Eitauv, the large amethyst dragon that I knew from training and lessons. ”Hello Tasia.” I gave a half smile to the large dragon.

I had been alive for a long time and this was one of the only times I had allowed my mind not to pay attention to the things around me. I looked around for a moment and then back to him. ”Hello Eitauv.”

[/color] I said to him as I looked up at him. He was huge and how he was able to move about the city so easily, it made me want to just watch him. Sunglow could do it, she was still small compared to him. She barely was bigger then a one story building, just big enough to fly me around, but she was able to. ”What are you doing here, Master Eitauv?”[/color] I asked, giving a simple bow to him before look around.

Eitauv chuckled at her expression. Tasia often amused him with her antics. He would always consider her a hatchling, no matter what. He put her head down to her level, peering at her through one giant gem-like orb of an eye. "”What are you doing here, Master Eitauv?”"

[/u] He sighed, stretching his wings out a bit and then refolding them. "I'm taking a walk to think about things. Life is a bit....glum, right now, Tasia. Things haven't been getting better. In fact, they've been getting worse."[/color] He sighed again, looking down at her a bit more carefully. "Tasia. I mean this as curiously as dragonley possible......How do you stay warm without any scales? I mean, when you dress the way you do? You leave so much skin exposed....and your kind has no scales. I don't mean to sound like a hatchling with questions about all sorts of things, but it has always been a question that I've pondered without finding an answer to."[/size][/blockquote][/i]

I heard his dragon like chuckle. It was deep, like most chuckles were from a dragon and it made me smile slightly. I like Eitauv, just like I liked Elisedd. Both were very good dragons and they were easy to get along with. I took in a simple breath before looked at the large dragon, watching as he stretched his wings into the air before refolding them down. ”I'm taking a walk to think about things. Life is a bit... glum, right now, Tasia. Things haven't been getting better. In fact, they've been getting worse." I gulped…

He was talking about his rider, I was sure of it and from those words it sounded like she was getting worse and worse by the day. I hated to think that they council and the world would lose someone like his rider, but as I thought about it, there was no stopping the circle of life. ”Tasia. I mean this as curiously as dragonley possible.” I looked at him for a moment and wondered what he was going to ask. ”How do you stay warm without any scales? I mean, when you dress the way you do? You leave so much skin exposed... and your kind has no scales. I don't mean to sound like a hatchling with questions about all sorts of things, but it has always been a question that I've pondered without finding an answer to." I smiled slightly and looked at him for a moment.

”Well, in the summer time, the air is so warm my skin is perfectly fine and if I wear to much clothes, such as pants and tunics, I feel constricted and over heated.”

[/color] I said to him, backing up slightly since if I moved wrong, I could hit him. ”These cloths allow all around movement, I can squat and get as low as I want.”[/color] I did so, pushing my body nearly to the ground, but keeping on my toes and finger tips. I then stood and moved my arms in all directions that they could go. ”With normal tunics or pants, I could not get nearly as low nor move as quietly.”[/color] I said to him before thinking about the rest. ”Every now and then I will wear a black or brown cloak if I feel the need and in the winter time I wear a cloak as well, but I also have a very simple charm to allow my body to have a thin layer of warmth that does not take much energy from me.”[/color] I said to him, looking up into his great big eye.

Eitauv listened as she spoke, a curiosity that never quelled being a bit more satisified as he did so. "”Well, in the summer time, the air is so warm my skin is perfectly fine and if I wear to much clothes, such as pants and tunics, I feel constricted and over heated.”

But he stayed silent as he listened t oher speaking. ”With normal tunics or pants, I could not get nearly as low nor move as quietly.” Until he heard this when he chuckled a bit. "Perhaps quietly to a human, Tasia, but to us dragons you are still bumbling around the world like a puppy with paws too large for it's body."[/color] He had an affectionate tone to his thoughts there. Just so she knew it was lighthearted teasing rather than an insult. ”Every now and then I will wear a black or brown cloak if I feel the need and in the winter time I wear a cloak as well, but I also have a very simple charm to allow my body to have a thin layer of warmth that does not take much energy from me.”[/u] He considered for a moment. He had never thought about trying a thin layer of warmth. He shook his head in amusement. "That's an interesting thought, Tasia. I never would have considered using a thin layer of warmth." He sighed, his mind stretching out to Laemiri, who was lying up in bed in her room. He cringed, physically and mentally as she got a shock of pain, the pain itself traversing the Bond and jolting through him as well. He shook his head like he was stunned, pulling back from Laemiri's mind. He knew she wouldn't come through into his head to escape the pain. That was just how she was. He looked at Tasia, unable to think of something to say, the thoughts he had just had now gone.[/size][/blockquote]

I was happy as he seemed to understand how I worked. I know Nemo had first though I was a wretch, wearing this very showy clothes, but it was nothing like that, I just enjoyed this much better then I did normal clothes. This allowed me movement when other clothes did not. ”True. All that fabric must be rather hot at times. I never considered that, seeing as I never have to wear it." I smiled and nodded to him. Sunglow loved to watch me climb the trees and as I showed him how I moved, he chuckled slightly. ”Perhaps quietly to a human, Tasia, but to us dragons you are still bumbling around the world like a puppy with paws too large for it's body." I chuckled.

”You might be right there, though Sunglow gets impressed with how I can move quickly and still know where I am going.”

[/color] I said to him. I use to race her out on the plains when she was younger, allowing her to build her leg muscles since she was much slimmer then normal dragons. She was a fast flyer, but she still was small. She did not have the bulk that the others did and she liked it better that way. ”That's an interesting thought, Tasia. I never would have considered using a thin layer of warmth." I nodded to him.

”Some of the elders find it foolish, mostly because I am using energy, but during the summer, I save that energy that is needed in the gem in this crown.”[/color] I pulled the vine crown that my step father had made me and showed him the emerald stone before putting it back. ”I don’t know how much energy is really used, but I know I am constantly putting energy in it, along with anything Sunglow kills for a meal, that way the animal does not die painfully, it just dies as if it is old.”[/color] I did not like Sunglow killing, feeling the pain the animal had even for that short moment was terrible, so I normally just drained the energy from the beast into my stones, which I had three, the one in the crown, one in my bow, which was also emerald like my crown gem, and the golden one in the hilt of my sword that I had had made for me.

Something was wrong with him, the way he seemed to change before looking at me. I was confused and watched him carefully, wondering what he was thinking. What was wrong. ”Is something wrong, Master Eitauv?”[/color]

Eitauv cringed and forced himself to shut off the link between himself and his Bondmate. Pulling back from her mind wasn't enough, the feelings she had still battering his mind. He knew that she would feel the silence and know that he had pulled back, but at this point, he was only trying to save himself the pain. He knew that she wouldn't allow anyone to alleviate her suffering and that making himself suffer would only make her feel worse. Eitauv looked at Tasia, a bit of a grimace on his face.

"Laemiri's pain flooded our link. I had to shut off our link elsewise I'd probably have knocked over a building with my tail...It's becoming harder to share my thoughts with her because I can't stay in her mind without feeling pain. We've become silent towards eachother. She won't even speak to me when I'm there, verbally. It's a difficult bond, I think she's trying to distance herself from me, Tasia." He sighed, and a large, diamond-like tear rolled down one scaley cheek. "Pray to whatever diety you may have that you and Sunglow never have to experience something like this."

I saw him cringe slightly, see something in his eye that made me hurt on the inside. I knew that Master Laemiri was ill and I had not seen her in days, but I could not even imagine what Eitauv was going through. His rider was dying and it was not easy death, it was painful and I knew it. I was worried for my teachers, I was scared that he would leave the council and I actually liked him. I watched as he looked at me once more, his eyes looking sad and full of pain.

”Laemiri's pain flooded our link.” I gulped slightly, looking at him for a moment, wondering what that meant. ”I had to shut off our link else wise I'd probably have knocked over a building with my tail...” The idea hurt me and I had not even shut off my link, I was just to far to connect the link to Sunglow. ”It's becoming harder to share my thoughts with her because I can't stay in her mind without feeling pain. We've become silent towards each other. She won't even speak to me when I'm there, verbally. It's a difficult bond, I think she's trying to distance herself from me, Tasia." I watched as a large tear rolled down his face and I touched his cheek slightly with my hand, the hard scales felt warm and at the same time, soft to me. ”Pray to whatever diety you may have that you and Sunglow never have to experience something like this."

I looked at him for a moment and nodded. I did not pray, but I would keep my hope that this would never happen. I did not want Sunglow to go through this and if I became sick, I would just leave her and get as far away as I could. ”How can I help Master Eitauv?”

Eitauv sighed, shaking his head. He knew there was nothing Laemiri would accept as help. "The only thing we could do would be to leave her be...I'm afraid to lose her. It's not as if I were the one dying. It's not as if she has an Eldunari to cough up. Once my Bondmate is gone, I will be alone." He shook his head and sighed again, glad to know that Tasia was still there. He actually welcomed her hand on his scales. "It is a dragon's greatest fear, to lose their Bondmate. Or rather, to have one's Bondmate shut them out. To be unable to help...It is a terrible thing. Some have gone mad from it before. I...I do not know what I'm going to do once this ordeal is through..."

I watched as he shook his head and I just gave him a kind of half smile and waited for him to say something, to tell me what I needed to know. ”The only thing we could do would be to leave her be... I'm afraid to lose her. It's not as if I were the one dying. It's not as if she has an Eldunari to cough up. Once my Bondmate is gone, I will be alone." I felt sadness in my heart for him, but I smoothed my hand over his cheek slightly and looked at him. My emerald eyes looked deep into his beautiful purple eye. ”I know I am not the same… But… When she leaves… I am still here for you, for anything… I know I am not the same as a Broodmate, but I am still a friend.”

[/color] I knew that I did not want to loose him for his Rider and I knew Sunglow did not want him to leave either.

We had both been scared to loose his Rider, but we didn’t want to see him leave either. It killed me inside, mostly because, we were their friends and we wanted to keep them friends. ”It is a dragon's greatest fear, to lose their Bondmate. Or rather, to have one's Bondmate shut them out. To be unable to help... It is a terrible thing. Some have gone mad from it before. I... I do not know what I'm going to do once this ordeal is through..." I looked at him for a moment, looking down at the ground before looking back at him. I knew he would probably be gone for a while, but if anything, I did not want to loose him forever. Sunglow sometimes talked about him as a great guy, always saying that she could count on him and I believed it. ”I know it is tough, to loose someone you really care about… But, please, don’t leave us forever… We would really miss you and worry about you.”[/color] And It was true. I had always liked them, they were great friends.

Eitauv sighed, listening to Tasia's words. ”I know I am not the same… But… When she leaves… I am still here for you, for anything… I know I am not the same as a Broodmate, but I am still a friend.”

[/u] He felt her hand smooth over his scales and couldn't help but lean his head into her hand a bit, like a cat would when one scratches a spot on it's head that had an itch. A slight purr could be heard. He enjoyed Tasia's comforting words. ”I know it is tough, to loose someone you really care about… But, please, don’t leave us forever… We would really miss you and worry about you.”[/u] He smiled a little bit at this, shaking his head. "I cannot promise that I won't leave, Tasia. But I can promise that you will see me. I won't completely disappear from you and Sunglow's lives. After all, it's my duty to continue training you both, regardless as to whether or not I have my Bondmate. Of course, it may be a bit different. But I'll still try my hardest. I won't abandon the pair of you."[/i] He broadened his mind again, using a tendril of thought to seek out Laemiri again. He could hear her, but it wasn't very strong, these thoughts. It was like listening from underwater. It was sort of muffled. He knew she was trying to block her mind from him, but it was no use. He knew that she wasn't doing very well and that she wouldn't last a fortnight...if even the end of the week. He sighed, looking at Tasia. "Would you like to come back and see her, Tasia? I'm afraid she might not be able to train your for a while, and that if you wait it might end up being too late....She'll want to see you before she goes." And in reality, he spoke the truth. He knew that Laemiri would want to speak to Tasia before she couldn't anymore, like any good teacher would. She'd be unhappy that she couldn't complete her teaching, but happy that she had been able to teach her this much.[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]
