A sparrow sang in the sunlight, watching with its beady black eyes as it perched itself on the branch of an old but fully alive forest tree. A pair of ears listened to the sweet tune, never envying it the least bit but listening to the story of the bird. It told of its life and experiences through that tune. The young bird was free and had no cages restricting it; it could go wherever it pleased. There were no laws keeping the bird here in this forest, there were no traditions that it had to follow. The sparrow just sung is sweet song and lived out is short life. It’s only worries were about food, shelter, and finding a mate in the spring time. Slight jealousy only balanced out with understanding came from the one listening. A wish to be that free, but an understanding that she received more out of her existence than the bird probably would ever receive out of its own.
The lighting from the sunlight being filtered through the dark green canopy of the forest calmed her and brought a sense of tranquility to the mind. Bare feet felt the earth, leaves, twigs, and the damp moisture trapped in the rich soil. Eyes were slightly open as she walked towards the trickling river, being lead to it by a soft bubbling creek that slowly made its way to the larger stream. She stepped, no more like floated over a decaying log. Green moss had covered the side that pointed to the North; it was a curious thing that it always did so. She didn’t ponder on it for long and soon she found that she was at the end of the creek but at the larger stream, Gaena River. She had traveled quite a ways from SÍlthrim, not that it mattered much to her. She had always wandered from place to place; never liking the idea of staying at one spot for long.
The strange scent of water filled her nose; it smelled really like nothing but it held its own scent. A mental snicker kicked in, it must be peculiar like that. Now opening her eyes to reveal the entrancing violet shade of her irises, only enhanced by the speckles of gold that made them glitter and reflect the light much lika a precious dwarf gem. With these eyes she saw that the sun was getting close to setting, she had though a few hours of daylight. Taking her time she set down her bow, quiver, and carefully hid a pouch that contained just enough money to live off of. Keeping only one item on her person, she slid the deceivingly harmless trinket against the tie on her skirt. After that she found content with placing the larger two of the four objects near a large grey stone. Theia then rearranged her white tie skirt so that it was high enough not to be touched by the water from the river. Pointing out to herself that she wasn’t here to take a bath.
Entering the chilly waters with effortless grace, she glided to a spot were the reeds would hide her feet from the fish that swam through the same waters. Yes she came here for the game of large freshwater salmon. Quietly and patiently she waits for one to appear and come close to the bed of underwater grass. Meanwhile the sound of a small waterfall further down the river reached her ears, the roar not as impressive as some in the mountains but enough for it to qualify as muffled roar. Birds continued to chirp but her attention was drawn away from their songs. Bending her knees slightly, hovering with poise over the water, pieces of her unique shades of brown and gold hair almost touched the clear water’s surface. If she paid attention she would be able to see the loveliness of her form, but it hadn’t entered her notice.
Scanning the nearby area and looking for her next meal, now that was what was on her mind.
