I could not believe how the night had gone, it seemed to have gone down hill. People died right before me, Awiti saw everything. I was horrified that such a thing had happened, but as soon as the riders came in, I felt relieved that they were there. I was possible the only one from my family that had been relieve. My sister had been furious and was happy that Malandra was gone, but she had yelled her own curses at the riders quickly. They were nothing to her, she hated them. My brother, though his attempts were blown aside, tried to calm her. Secretly, he liked them, but he did not want his sister to know and I did not blame him at all. Sean, though hurt himself, grabbed me before I could speak to Darek once again, this time, holding his temper. I whispered a good bye, thrusting a note into his hand to meet me in my room. I had told a servant to fix a chamber for Awiti to have it be her permanent room and then I went into my own. Sean was tired, so I sent him away quickly and finally set down in a chair.

My same dress was on, I did not feel like changing and I was tired. I felt slightly sick, but thanks to the riders, I was going to live, as was my sister and brother, along with Awiti. A servant came in long enough to pour a bowl of water for me and I instructor her to prepare my bath water as well. She went into my bathing room and began to get things ready for it. ”Abigail, go out the other door when you leave, I may have visitors.”

[/color] The servant was quick to answer and I heard the sound of water being pumped from lower chambers. The place here had a pipe system for water, hot or cold and luckly, it worked well. I walked into the bathing room and pulled my gloves off and placed them on a stone desk that I used for preparing my make-up. The bathing area was sunk into the ground, so I could easily walk into it, but for now, I would allow it to be prepared and speak with Darek when he came.

As I shut the door to the bathing room, I saw a beautiful pink rose in the hands of Darek, a small smile spread across my lips as I took it. ”Have I ever told you how charming you are?”[/color] I did not know him very well, but from what I seen, he was far more charming then most the men in this castle, even Sean.

Darek was infuriated at himself for giving Awiti and Leilani the poison. He should have known the human had lied. " If not for the riders I would have lost her." The simple truth sunk into Dareks hand as quickly as Leilani's hand had with a note. " Meet me in my bedroom." Darek did not like this, he was not one to enter a woman's room at night no matter the reason. But neither could he deny the importance of speaking with her, he had many questions he wished to ask her, as he was sure she had for him. With them thoughts in mind he made his way to the garden he had learned so well on his last visit and began searching for her window.

As he found her window he could not help but stop himself from picking a rose from the garden. He had done so with the sisters a few weeks before and he would do so now for her. For a good five minutes he went searching for the perfect rose, white would not symbolize what he meant, nor would red. Pink, he was not sure about, until he thought about the woman he was giving it to. " Yes a pink rose." Darek decided as he plucked one and then let his wings unfurl. Like he had thousands of times he let his wings lift him up into the air and soon made his way to Leilani's balcony. It was easy for him to tell which was her room do to her scent being all over it, a mixture of roses and lavender, with a touch of something else he could not name.

Like a bird of prey he swooped into the room, as silent as the night around him and slowly made his way to the deepest shadow of the room where he then wrapped his wings around him so that not a single bearing of his body would be seen. As Leilani walked into the room he had to stop himself from revealing himself right away for he heard the servant not far behind her. As She spoke to the servant he took a closer look at her, one that he had not been allowed to do in such a place like the gala where hundreds of people were spying on each other. The pink dress she wore was complimented by a golden sash around her waist. The dress showed a little bit of pale skin but not enough to seem trampish like the priestess had worn. Her long flowing black hair was lose and as she moved it moved with her, like a snake around her body. She had pink and black paint around her eyes, and pink lipstick on. She was truly a beauty, a rare thing in human culture, Darek decided as he watched her go close the door to her bathing area.

Slowly and carefully he let his wings go behind him as he took out the rose and let it led his way. " You have not, not many find my appearance appealing." Darek said as he handed her the rose he had picked for her, as her hand came upon his kissing it like a proper gentlemen would. " I am not extremely comfortable though in your graces room though, it is improper and I would not like you to be spoken badly of on my account. " Darek said to her as he retreated his head to look into her eyes. " I am deeply sorry for earlier by the way. I should have known better about the poison." Darek said apologizing for her almost near death incident.

As he released Leilani's hand he finally looked into her eyes and said with a smile. " But thank you my lady for the compliment, you yourself are extremely stunning in that dress, though if I may be so bold, perhaps a forest green with a gold thread line. It would bring out your eyes more." Darek said as he looked upon her. " So what is it you wish to speak bout my lady?" Darek asked letting his curiosity get the best of him now as it normally did. It was not often a women that knew what he was called him to there rooms after all.

Well, I looked to Darek for a moment, seeing his wings. It was not a normal thing about a man, but there was something about him, though I was not sure, that I liked. He was handsome in his own way and sweet as ever. His wings that folded around him, along with me at one point, was very mysterious and at the same time, beautiful. I looked into his feral eyes, the yellow eyes that were so different then those of people. My own emerald eyes were something I liked about myself, but his were weird… And… Handsome. As I took the rose, he took my own hand, kissing it gentle.

“You have not, not many find my appearance appealing."

[/i] I gave a look of apology and smiled at him for a moment. He was so charming and so sweet. He was such a gentleman and someone I would enjoy spending time with. I had only known him for a few days, so I pushed the thought of flirting out of my head for a moment. ”I am not extremely comfortable though in your graces room though, it is improper and I would not like you to be spoken badly of on my account." As he released my hand, I slipped it gentle from him. No man had kissed my hand in a long time, Sean sure didn’t, he was brute about things, which was fine, he was my protector.

”I am sorry I put you into a position like this Darek… I figured with the Gala ended as it did, we could talk some more before I head to bed and you leave. I am sure you are heading home soon.”[/color] I said to him, watching as he lifted his head to met my own eyes, which held deep emotion in them. ”I am deeply sorry for earlier by the way. I should have known better about the poison." I tilted my head slightly, a face full of understanding. ”Don’t be sorry, no one could have seen it coming.”[/color] I said, pulling some of my hair down from a small clip that held it from my face and also removed the jewels that adored me. I loved them, but I could not sleep with them, I did not want to ruin them.

”But thank you my lady for the compliment, you yourself are extremely stunning in that dress, though if I may be so bold, perhaps a forest green with a gold thread line. It would bring out your eyes more." I smiled widely at him for a moment. I had thought about it a few times, but I was not one for green, but since he seemed to like, I think that could change ever so slightly. ”So what is it you wish to speak bout my lady?" I smiled slightly, motioning to a chair in my sitting area, next to my library of books.

”I have hours before I will be able to sleep… Tell me about yourself, you work and I will tell you some about myself.”[/color] I said to him, looking at Darek and smiling softly at him as I set down. My servant has long ago started the fire in my room to allow it to get warm and I was thankful for that.

Darek watched as a smile came onto Leilani's face when he told her not many found her appeasing. Did this amuse her perhaps, no he saw pitty in those eyes as well and knew it was something else, something he had not dared think about since he had been turned.

”I am sorry I put you into a position like this Darek… I figured with the Gala ended as it did, we could talk some more before I head to bed and you leave. I am sure you are heading home soon.” Darek heard Leilani say to him, her voice like honey to his ears. " It is not your fault, and I understand why you did it. You swordarm, Sean would not approve of you seeing me without him." Darek said bluntly. In truth he did not care for the man either way, he had acted as one would expect from the islanders. But he had hoped that someone who guarded royalty would have a small amount of common sense in there head not to start a fight while wounded.

As she titled her head as if in understanding to my dilemma he saw in her eyes that she did understand and her words only confirmed it ”Don’t be sorry, no one could have seen it coming." Her words were spoken with her view of things behind them and he respected what she said but had to disagree. " An elf expects things like this to happen, just sometimes our minds our clouded y other, more primal intentions." Darek said not illerating on what he meant to her and instead leaving the topic closed as it was.

Darek was indeed pleased when he saw a smile come to her face, a stray lock of black hair coming to cover her emerald eyes from his view. Was she flirting with him? He wondered as she offered him a seat in her sitting area that was near her book collection. With a smile of his head and a small bow he made his way over to the chairs, never standing in front of her, but to the direct side of her. Once at the seats he again pulled hers out for her to sit in, and when she was done he walked around the table and took the seat she had offered him.

She was so much different then all the other humans he had meet before, sure some of those who left Ilirea were better of, but for the most part they only went seeking more power. Leilani was different he could tell, after training so many elf children he had learned to judge people, and so knew she would not misuse power if she were given it. But what else of her character. She had sat by idly after all as Tox had been threatened to be tortured. " No he told himself, only my senses could have picked up the conversation from such a distance." He told himself as he kept his eyes on her own.

”I have hours before I will be able to sleep… Tell me about yourself, you work and I will tell you some about myself.” Darek hear Leilani say and with a smile happily obliged. " Well what have you heard of me is the first question. It is never good to try to teach someone that already has a cup that is full." Darek said holding out his hand to her from across the table. " You know I am different, and that I have elf at least one elf parent. But what else have you learned of me?" Darek asked her kindly, he was truly intrigued to hear what the humans knew about him and his mystery after all.

I did not find it at all humorous that others did not find him handsome, in my eyes, he was very, but he was very different and that was something I really liked. Sean was different, that was for sure, but he was quick to understand, quick to know of, and Darek… Well, he was far from that, I would learn about him and possible still be surprised. I looked at him for a moment, thought I saw something within’ those feral eyes, but I was not completely sure.

After a moment of silence after my apology, Darek spoke to me. ”It is not your fault, and I understand why you did it. You swordarm, Sean would not approve of you seeing me without him." I chuckled slightly. ”Sean is a sweet man… Though, blunt and very harsh sometimes… He has my best interest at heart. I will take care of him, one word to my sister and he will back off.”

[/color] I said, looking at my book collection and noticing a new one. ”Ah, my sister got me a new book… Her kindness is unmatched by others sometimes.”[/color] I said, knowing that others thought different of my harsh, cruel sister, but I knew her far better then others. She was kind to all until they gave her reason to hate and mock them.

As I spoke of the poison I nearly died because, I saw in his eyes something else, something that said he disagreed. ”An elf expects things like this to happen, just sometimes our minds our clouded by other, more primal intentions." I nodded to him. I had talked to many elves and they always seemed to know when something was happening or what was going on around them. I took in a breath and then looked at the fire in the hearth that flickered against the walls. My hair moved around my face and I pushed it aside, looking at him for a moment and smiling as I did so. Flirting was second nature to me, though I tried not to sometimes. He was the first man I had actually liked that I did not want to ruin a friendship with. I knew we had just recently met, but he was someone I already liked. His charm and gentleman like actions.

As he finally set down, after helping me to my seat at first, I smiled at him. I hoped we could speak for a while. If my water grew cold, I could refresh it with ease. The slaves always kept hot water in the tanks, night and day and though I knew it was tough on them, I could not say or do anything about it. I wish I could free them all, but such thing would be looked down on by my uncle, so until another took the throne to be a king or queen, which the only in line could possible be my brother and sister, but not me. I could never rule a country.

I, myself, wondered why Darek had accepted my invitation, since I knew I was nothing special, just a normal girl, who could talk my way out of nearly any problem. I was not sure what Darek saw in the man spying on my sister and who, I had heard, got away. I did not know the man, but I knew he was spying and it sounded like Darek had a soft spot for him, which I did not mind. I was not big on spies, but I did not know if the guy was really spying, it could have been a mistake. I was not a person who judged others.

As I offered the idea for conversation, I saw a smile come to his face. ”Well what have you heard of me is the first question. It is never good to try to teach someone that already has a cup that is full." I set back for a moment and thought about something. ”Honestly… Not much… My uncle put me through so much Diplomatic schools that I only recently came home this summer.”[/color] She said to him, laughing slightly at her lack of knowledge about people. ”My sister could probably have me a whole book by morning, but I would rather have it from your own mouth.”[/color] I said, smiling sweetly at him as I leaned back into my chair and looked at the fire for a moment before returning my gaze back at him.

”You know I am different, and that I have elf at least one elf parent. But what else have you learned of me?" I smiled at him for a moment. I knew that he was different, that he was a vampire, but he was more then that, I could he was. ”Okay… Well, now that you have brought it up… What else are you sir? What is it that has made you into this man before me.”[/color] I wanted to know about the man who I had come to befriend.

”Sean is a sweet man… Though, blunt and very harsh sometimes… He has my best interest at heart. I will take care of him, one word to my sister and he will back off.” Hearing her say she would take care of Sean Darek knew he should tell her not to but did not want to. With Sean backing off he would be able to spend more time with Leilani without having to keep his guard up. And he did wish to to do that, but he also did not want the man to get in trouble for being in a drunken stupor. “ It is how their people are my lady, no amount of talking shall change that. IT runs in there blood. I have studied the culture for a short time, learning there fighting habits, and how they do so. By you interfering you shall be dealing a wound to his honor. Just let it be for now, I rather not have anything else to watch out for in my like. They are a loyal lot and mean the best.” Darek said kindly to her, it was indeed touching to him to know she would do such a thing for him, but it was unnecessary. After they learned that it was close to impossible to kill him the y would slowly stop until they did know how to. Hopefully by then he had at least one of them on his side.

As Leilani spoke though she turned to her book collection and said to him "Ah, my sister got me a new book… Her kindness is unmatched by others sometimes.” Darek was indeed surprised at the comment and wondered if this was her way of defending her sister for what she had done. He wondered so but like most things put it off to the side. He had seen her only twice, and neither for extended periods of time, he could not judge a person on two visits. No he would have to wait few more times before being able to judge her. “ And what may this book be? Perhaps a love story, or something on philosophy?” Darek asked her trying to get her beautiful emerald eyes to look at him once more and was soon rewarded when he spoke of the poison and how he should have known..

Once he was finished though she took a breath an looked towards the fire, Darek did not need to look to know it was there, he could feel it in the air, warming up the room around them. It was one of the few things that could kill him, and so he always kept a mindful part of his mind wrapped around any such source. As a lock of hair fell to her face he watched as Leilani brushed it to the side and let her emerald green eyes look over him. Was she flirting he wondered as he looked back at her, his yellow eyes meeting her green ones. A small silence was created as each looked at the other until finally Darek himself spoke up.

But before he spoke his mind was trying to wrap around the implications of why she would be flirting with him. No she would not be, she has just called me here to apologize for Sean’s actions is all. Even in his own head he knew it was a lie and so he could not hold onto the argument for long, what did she want….Lucky it did not take him long to confirm his original beliefs, but why him, their had been many grand human nobles for her choosing after all, why an elf, no not an elf, a monstrosity like himself.

”Honestly… Not much… My uncle put me through so much Diplomatic schools that I only recently came home this summer.” he was happy she knew little about him, it would make his life a lot easier if she had heard nothing after all for he would not have to explain why others thought the way they did, or try to prove them wrong for thinking the way they did. As he was about to comment on her going to diplomat school she once again spoke, her honey voice filling his ears. ”My sister could probably have me a whole book by morning, but I would rather have it from your own mouth.” Darek laughed at the way humans thought. “ And who do you expect your sister to acquire over two hundred and fifty years of my life in a single night ma komitama?" Darek asked, calling her my precious in the ancient language.“Besides it is best you hear what I tell you from me, you may get the wrong impression from others, whether they mean to give it to you or not. ” Darek said his hand reaching across the table, but stopping directly in the center. If she wished to hold his hand he knew she would take his as she had during their dance together, as well as when she had saved him from certain death from the savage faithful.

”Okay… Well, now that you have brought it up… What else are you sir? What is it that has made you into this man before me.” Darek laughed as a sadness came over him at her question, and began to answer, slowly looking to the fire as he did so. “ To understand what a person is, you must understand there past and thus who they are.” Darek said kindly as he turned back towards her where he let the normal magic that protected him from the disgust of others fade away to reveal the beast he was. Dried and leathery skin replaced the once smooth and delicate skin he had before. His nails elongated into claws, as well as his teeth turning all into fangs. His skin became an ashy gray color, and his wings finally looked normal on him. “ What made me into this man…” Darek said showing her what he truly looked like so she knew he was not any form of man. “ This is no man that sits before you, I am a monster a shadow of my former self destroyed by a jealous sister. Nothing more, and nothing less. I have come to accept it, but hide in my old form as I looked as a child so that others may feel more comfortable around me. Even myself at times.” Darek said to Leilani, not harshly but to get his point across that he did not believe that he was still a man, like she called him.

Okay, so I said I could talk to my sister, but I had gotten to know Sean much better then she had and no matter how much he was told to back off, he only got closer and closer. It was rather irritating sometimes, but it was the way he, for some odd reason was. I wanted to spend time with Darek some and with how Sean did not like him, it would only cause us discomfort unless we ignored him, which I could do without a problem. Ignoring someone to do what I wanted was something any royal person had to do. “It is how their people are my lady, no amount of talking shall change that. IT runs in there blood. I have studied the culture for a short time, learning there fighting habits, and how they do so. By you interfering you shall be dealing a wound to his honor. Just let it be for now, I rather not have anything else to watch out for in my like. They are a loyal lot and mean the best.” I smiled… Darek was right, it was how Sean and his men were and that could not be changed. I only hoped that Sean would one day back off some so we could get to know each other, that was all I wanted, to have a friend and Darek seemed to be fitting the bill, even better then I had expected. I was actually starting to wake up more, I did not want to sleep.

After a mere few moment though, the conversation turned to my book collection. I loved my books and most the time, took them with me on small journeys when I had to go somewhere. I knew that they had all mostly been read. Some where for planning a debate, while others were just normal love stories, some on war and love that my sister wanted me to read to toughen me up, while others were just stories. As I mentioned how my sister was kind, I glanced to see something in Darek that wanted to argue that point. I did not doubt it. My sister was cruel and harsh more then she was kind, but one had to truly know her, like I did. ”And what may this book be? Perhaps a love story, or something on philosophy?” I smiled for a moment and grabbed the book, looking at the title. ”Hmm… It is a different language, one I have learned through the years… ‘L'amour et la guerre’, which means… The Love and War.”

[/color] I said, placing the book down on the table so he could see it. It was a book that would take me a few days to get it completely read, since I knew I could speak the language, but I did not want to get words wrong.

As it came to the subject of the poison once again, I found myself looking at the fire, watching as the flames flickered slightly at the stone that trapped it. It was wild, wanting to be let go, wanting to devour, like war always seemed to do, but also, like anything trapped wanted to do. Almost like me in a way. I was trapped in this family, expected to do things a certain way, but I never did allow such a thing to happen. My brother said I was a wild flame, always doing things how I wanted and wanting to seeing things in others that were not there. He was half way wrong about me. I saw what was there and ignored what people saw and wanted to see in something. People always looked and judged people on one act and on there looks, where as I, like I was doing now, wanted to get to know someone. The fire, could destroy, but it was also warming and healing in a way to some. It could help heal the land and also people with it hot heat.

I had yet again pushed another lock of my black hair from my face and this time, I had met his own eyes, the feral eyes I wanted to actually see. Sean’s eyes, were hard and harsh, but these eyes… They were different, full of kindness and something I really wanted to see. As silence began to stretch for a moment, he spoke about how I must know something about him. It was a change of subject, which was fine with me. I knew I should be apologizing for Sean action, that should have been my first thing, but things were unfolding in a different matter and quickly. It was fine with me, but I knew my manners, so before the subject could change to far, I looked at him softly. ”I am sorry for Sean’s Actions today… I am not sure if he was in his right mind after whatever wounded him… He should have known better, he normally thinks things through before turning to fighting.”[/color] I said, wanting to show my deepest apologize to him. I liked Darek, though I had only spoken to him a bit before the ball and then during the ball, but I was really starting to like him.

After a moment of silence again, I told him how little I knew of him, how I had only recently come home and how my sister could probably have me a book on it in the morning. I knew this, because she had so many people working for her that could go to the library and find every record of Darek that the Kingdom had and plus, since others to distant cities with more information for later. It would not surprise me if she, the all seeing eye, was doing that right now, to show what I was getting into. ”And who do you expect your sister to acquire over two hundred and fifty years of my life in a single night ma komitama?" I laughed slightly this time. ”Our family is from a line of rulers, as I am sure you know… Over a hundred years, people have been getting information and I am sure it is all within’ the libraries, but public and private.”[/color] I said to him, smiling slightly and realizing what he had just called me. ”That word… ‘Ma Komitama’, doesn’t it mean… My Precious?”[/color] I had been called it by a dragon rider before. My meetings with the rider had stopped only recently due to the ball, so I was hoping to start meeting with him again.

After a moment, he went on. ”Besides it is best you hear what I tell you from me, you may get the wrong impression from others, whether they mean to give it to you or not.” I nodded in agreement. It was the truth. I knew it, most everyone knew it. People should speak for themselves and that was finally. Not from the mouths of others, of those who could bash you and make you seen like a monster. I noticed that his hand was placed in the center of the table and though it was tempting, I knew it was best to keep ourselves apart from touching. We had only just met and such a sign would be too much for people just trying to get to know each other. My actions to night were friendly and at the same time, flirty and I should have stopped myself. After a moment, I heard him laugh, but it held sadness and something else. ”To understand what a person is, you must understand there past and thus who they are.” I nodded.

It was true, I need to know about his past and know him in order to know what I was asking. He turned away from me, and I watched, with slight shock and amazement as his face seemed to melt into something else. His skin with leather and dry and his nails were claws. His wings looked normal on his body now and his teeth turned to fangs. His skin was Ashy gray now and I just looked at him, kind of amazed and shocked by the whole look. ”What made me into this man…” I looked into his eyes, which had not changed. ”This is no man that sits before you, I am a monster a shadow of my former self destroyed by a jealous sister.” The words hurt slightly. My sister and I were so close and if such a thing ever happened like this, it would only break my heart. ”Nothing more, and nothing less. I have come to accept it, but hide in my old form as I looked as a child so that others may feel more comfortable around me. Even myself at times.” I let his words sink in and then I stood slightly, walking over to him and showing that I was not scared of him.

”You are a man… Different… Yes, but a man… A gentleman at that and I see no monster here.”[/color] I said, putting my soft hand on his leather, ashy gray face and smiling down at him. ”You are still handsome.”[/color] Maybe it was my kind heart, or maybe it was the truth. I spoke from my heart, and I saw nothing scary or monstrous about him.

Darek was surprised how much knowledge this little one child in his own races mind knew so much. " Yes it dose mean my precious." Darek said with smile. " I'm surprised you understood, not many understand the grey ones speech." Darek said charmingly.

As matters got more important Darek grew more and more uncomfortable. When he showed her his true form he expected her to run away from him, not towards him and was so surprised when she stood up, as if nothing had happened and walked over to him. ”You are a man… Different… Yes, but a man… A gentleman at that and I see no monster here.” Leilani said to me, as she let her soft pale hand fall onto his face. The touch alone sent jolts through his body, and before he knew it he was letting the animals he kept back control his body as they held her hand to his face, cherishing the feel of her warm skin against his cold and hard skin.

”You are still handsome.” Those simple words, made him look straight to her eyes, many had said this after they had gotten over there fear, and had not meant it. But he knew when he looked into her eyes that she meant every word she said. " You are to kind to me my Lady." Darek said with what was meant to be a smile but turned more into a cruel grin. " Why are you so kind, you saw how easily I attacked your guard. No remorse, nothing." Darek said to her, letting go of her hand, even though he did not wish to. What would she reply, he wanted her to love him, but he could not love her in the end, she was to be married he was sure. And so with a sigh listened to her reply. A sad expression coming to his face.

I saw his surprise when he noticed I knew what the words meant. My travels to Teirm to meet with the dragon rider had paid off in the end and I could not help but smile at him and listened to his words for a moment. ”Yes it dose mean my precious." I smiled even wider. I had been correct and it was something I enjoyed being… Correct… Sure, I was not always correct, but it was nice to know when I was. ”I'm surprised you understood, not many understand the grey ones speech." [/color] I said to him, smiling slightly. Not many knew I met with a dragon rider and I had kept it under lock to everyone, including Sean. He knew we went to Teirm, but he did not know my reasons and when I settled down for the evening, the rider would come to my bed chambers and we would talk over tea and cookies. It was nice to speak with the rider, but days went on and he told me before the Gala he would be unable to meet me on our evenings.

After he showed me his true self, I was shocked, but I could not help but sit there and then stand, comforting him I hoped in a way. He was not scary, this was him and as I touched his cold, hard skin, I knew it was him. This was the man who had danced with me, the man who had attacked my guard, but at the same time, I did not completely blame him. Sean had come up abruptly and had even hit with no reason other then his own pain. It had made me mad, so I did not care completely, but I still cared for his well being, which was why I stopped Darek.

I pointed out how handsome Darek was, at least, in my own eyes, he was handsome and I did not care what others thought. ”You are to kind to me my Lady." It was a flaw sometimes, but I did not care, it was my heart and my way. Soon, I saw a cruel grin come to his face and I was slightly confused. ”Why are you so kind, you saw how easily I attacked your guard. No remorse, nothing." I looked at him for a moment. ”You were protecting yourself at first and you are what you are… Sean was bleeding everywhere, control can only go so far… But you did not kill him, because you have a good heart, Darek, that I know.” Darek was completely taken away by what she said, soon turning himself back to the form that he used to hide himself. "Aye, I did not, but I once would have. Before I controlled the beast with strict discipline. It is this same discipline that keeps me from doing vile things this very moment." Darek said to her a smile on his face now that he was once again in disguise.

As he looked to her he knew what the animals wanted, they wanted Leilani, and so he denied them there want, for to give in would condemn her to death. Slowly opening up to her as he had to no other Darek rose from his seat and walked over to the window, looking up into the sky. " I can still see my homeland even from this far away. It taunts me you know. Being an exile from your home where you grew up. It is a pain worst then death to be cast away by your countrymen." Darek said with a sad smile. "I want to leave now, to save you from being tainted, but yet I can not leave your presences. We are much alike, both looking in others for what is not there." Darek said as he turned around to look at her, the moon shining off his pale skin.

Slowly he watched as Leilani came up to him and wrapped her arms around him. With a soft sigh he did the same, letting this one piece of heaven through. " When I came back fro Ilirea as a boy, back to my home, I was praised as being better then my sister. Her jealousy grew to open hatred as my parents treated me like a king. I was to become one of the guardians of the riders castle, and because of this she hired an assassin to kill me." Darek said into her hair, the memory's as clear as day in his eyes as he went back to that day. " The assassin would have succeeded if not for my training when I saw that he was a vampire I had a great flame engulf him, I fainted after the battle and my sister tried to kill me while I was like this. My parents stopped her,and exiled her from there home. But I was the one who was in the end exiled from my home." Darek said a tear coming to his yellow eyes. " Now you know me." He said with a smile looking to see what else she would do.

He was beyond charming and it was something that many men did not use on me. Many men just thought I would fall head over heels for them, but even though I was a flirt, I had to get to know someone before I dared to do anything like that. ”It is your heart, that is what it is.” Darek hear Lady Leilani speak to him as if she knew exactly what he spoke of. It was charming in a way for such a small and young girl to comfort him, but in that same way it was extremely peaceful. " Before a few nights ago, I did not believe I still had a heart. It seems i have come to these lands to find it, and have." Darek said looking into her eyes, not knowing if she would understand what he meant, but saying it none the less.

" You are blushing my lady." Darek said with an amused smile as he saw the faint red underneath the powder she wore. Her cheeks seemed to glow to him and his eyes, illuminating them with a red that was almost pink. It was quite beautiful, and yet again he came back to her being so young. ”How could I be tainted by such a wonderful man, Darek? But I look into others to see what is there that others refuse to see.” Darek heard her say softly as she answered him with another question, something mortals seemed to do a lot. " I am both a vampire and a lycanthrope. Two curses that can be caught by almost anyone. And I'm sure by now you are to be wed to someone by now, a noble from one of these houses no less." Darek said sadly before he walked to the window.

Darek felt her hand wiped away his tear and a small smile lit up his face. " Just these little things have been some of the kindest I have received in a long time. Even the riders only see me when I have one of the young in my training." Darek said to her, not angry at the riders but so she knew what he was going through. " Even now I am telling myself to let you go...yet I can not. This feels right." Darek said letting his hands play with her long flowing hair as she spoke. ”I am sorry you were exiled, I wish I could help other then listen.” " By listening ma komitama you have done more for me then anyone else has." Darek said to her as he let her scent fill his nose, he wanted to always have her scent so he could find her whenever he needed to. Both animal and man agreed she was the one. Only the man refused to let it be so. " We should not be like this." Darek said sadly looking into her emerald eyes, but neither moving away from her, nor going any closer, merely just standing there. " I would take you for a fly but with the riders here I think it best we stay inside out of there site, until you are married and it is ok to be seen with friends that is." Darek said with a smile. He wanted to know everything about this woman so that they could share there lives together and yet he did not. " Tell me about yourself?" Darek asked as he let his eyes fall onto hers.

I guess you could say that I was charming, though I did not try to be charming, sometimes it happened and I only spoke from my heart. I knew this man before me had a heart, though something told me he tried to hide it, or keep it from his own minds. My powder had not worked, which just made me angry at the powder, but I could not stay mad at something that was nothing more then dirt mixed with extra coloring to make it perfect. I tried not to think about the blushing anymore, I did not want to keep blushing, but somehow, I did not think it would work. His arms were still around me and I did not mind at all. I just spoke to him with ease, this felt comfortable. When I asked how he could taint me, I did not expect such a answer. ”I am both a vampire and a lycanthrope. It was true, no one had told me about any form of Betrothal, so I was free to fall in love and not only that, I had already told me that an Arranged marriage for me would not go over easily.

As I wiped away the tear that had formed down his cheek, I saw a smile light his face up and I could not help but smile back. ”Just these little things have been some of the kindest I have received in a long time. Even the riders only see me when I have one of the young in my training." I felt pity. For someone who worked Ilirea, I would have expected the riders to be a bit more gracious, but they had their own plans and their own reason for things. ”Even now I am telling myself to let you go...yet I can not. I looked at him, allowing my emerald eyes to shine brightly from the fire. ”It does feel right… Very.”[/color] I said to him softly, right before stating how I wish I could do more for him. ”By listening ma komitama you have done more for me then anyone else has." He was so kind, so handsome, so gentle. I could never see him turning anyone out of malice or pure meanness. It felt so right, at this very moment, everything could have stopped and it would not have matter, an attack could be happening and I would have never known it. ”We should not be like this." I saw the sadness in his eyes. I wanted to be like this, wanted to so badly. ”I would take you for a fly but with the riders here I think it best we stay inside out of there site, until you are married and it is ok to be seen with friends that is." I narrowed my eyes slightly at him. ”I doubt I will marry anyone unless I am in love with them, so I don’t care who I am seen with Mr. Darek Von Cleft.”[/color] I said quickly and in a way that said, I knew I was right. ”Tell me about yourself?" I looked at him for a moment, still standing there and smiled. ”Well… I am the King’s Neice, my mother is his sister… Um, I am a Diplomat and I want to help everyone. I admire the dragons and I hate fighting.”[/color] I said, giving a smile after the last part. ”Unless in a diplomatic situation.”[/color]

As Leilani reached out to touch her cheeks Darek could not help but let a small grin escape his lips. So she did like him. He thought as he listened to her speak. ”Yes and you noticing did not help me trying to hide it.” She chuckled at his remark, smiling all he time at him.

Darek felt the ease of which she felt in his arms, as if she knew nothing would harm her as long as she was in his arms. And it made him extremely happy to know this, it swelled both the animal insides pride. ”If I am to be betrothed to anyone, no one has told me and I doubt I would agree or make it easy for anyone to marry me.” This only encouraged him more, which he knew he should not be but could not help himself from being. It had been so long since he had someone who cared for him like this, it was peaceful for once.

As they spoke he saw her emerald eyes brighten up to that of almost a diamond like quality. ”It does feel right… Very.” " Right." Darek finished as he kissed her passionately. His heart raced as he felt her lips on his and just as quickly as he had started he pulled away, turning away from her. " I'm sorry my lady...I should go. i wont tell anyone of this I promise." Darek said as a great saddens could be heard in his voice and physically seen in how he held himself now, no more was his pride there.

As he began to apologize he was completely taken aback when she kissed him back with even more passion then he had showed her. Carefully he returned to kissing her, lifting her up into his arms as he did so. She was so beautiful he thought as he kissed her only stopping to breath. Her long locks of black hair mixed with his braided white in a heap of mess. When they finally finished Darek felt like he had never had before, invincible would be the best way to put it he decided as he looked into her emerald eyes, his own yellow ones memorizing every detail of her face. ”I doubt I will marry anyone unless I am in love with them, so I don’t care who I am seen with Mr. Darek Von Cleft.” She told him as she answered his question he had asked before there kiss. " And I know who I wish to be with, body and soul. Ms. Leilani Richards." Darek said as he let himself give her a small peek on the lips once more. Not demanding, just loving, as if they had all of the world to show there passion for each other. Slowly Darek set her down and when she smiled at him and told him of her past a smile escaped his lips, as he kept his hands holding onto her waist, not wanting to be away from her. " O really and what would you call a diplomatic situation?" Darek asked her with a sly grin on his face as he let his wings wrap around her as if she were already his. " Because I would fight for you." Darek said to her truthfully he would. He would o through all of the savage faithful if he had to to keep her safe. And she knew it.

I saw a small grin come to his face and I looked at him as if I was mad, but a smile still pushed through that fake act and I just rubbed my cheeks lightly, hoping to rub the red from my face, as if that would work. I knew it would not, but I could try and that was no harm. Right? I chuckled slightly at myself, trying to ignore the blushing on my cheeks. As his arms just set there, I felt so at ease with it, with everything. It was so nice, to feel his arms around me, so comforting. I spoke of how I knew nothing of a betrothal and honestly, it would be hard to arrange a marriage for me, which was the truth from my own lips.

As I agreed of how right it was, I said ’Very’ and he ended the sentence with his own. ”Right.” I felt his lips crush into mine so very softly, my heart was racing faster and faster, I felt like it was going to burst. But soon, he pulled away and I wanted to just melt. ”I'm sorry my lady...I should go. I wont tell anyone of this I promise." I looked at him for a mere moment, seeing the sadness in his own eyes and how he was holding himself. But, before he could continue, I kissed him back, with even more passion then he had kissed me. He returned the kiss, I felt myself being pulled from the floor as he lifted me with his arms. I felt my hair move around my face, entangling some with his own.

When we finished, I was breathing hard and my heart was racing within my chest. I looked at him for a moment, the blush had quickly return and with vengeance. I could feel it burning my cheeks as if it was the flame of the fire that was behind me in the hearth. After I told him I would not marry unless it was for love, he smiled slightly. ”And I know who I wish to be with, body and soul. Ms. Leilani Richards." I smiled brightly before he kissed my lips, but this time, only a small peek.

I felt my feet touching the ground and I wanted to jump into his arms again. I felt like I had been flying then and now, I was back on the ground once more. I told him about myself and I felt his hands never leave my waist. ”Oh really and what would you call a diplomatic situation?" I smiled for a moment, thought about it and then laughed slightly. ”Anyone who disagrees with me.”

" And if I disagree with you?" Darek smiled as he looked into her eyes, her face was still blushing, but it was slowly dieing away. " Say on everything and everything. Could I keep you talking that way to me, until the end of time." Darek said with a smile as his predatory eyes looked over her, so sweet and innocent.How could he have let this happen, all his control gone, and for a human girl no less. No not a girl, a woman. Darek corrected himself.

In truth he was afraid of what he felt for her, and what her family would do if they ever found out. She would become an exile like himself, no longer the happy women in front of him. She was not ready for such tragedy in her life and he would not be the person to bring it to her life. " They shall try to arrange you a marriage. He was truly afraid for there situation, they could run away to Ilirea, but they would only be chased there and even the riders would be able to do little without causing a war. He had to find a way to make it so that she went running to him while he was there, so that the riders would not have such a burden of war on there hands. After all if she came to him for protection, he had the right of the law to protect her from any harm.

" O is that so." Darek laughed as he looked at her, she was so unique and was another calming effect to his life. Without her he knew the animals inside him would run lose, killing and letting blood rain free until she was once again in there arms. Her smile lit up his life, and to think only an hour ago he had almost lost her forever because of that women. It made him sick.

As he spoke he saw Leilani making faces at him. So she did have some child still left inside her he smiled to himself as he continued talking, when he was finished he happily listened. ”I know of the past and of the present. ”Oh, is that so." I smiled wickedly at him, a giggled escaped my lips, and I put my fingers on my lips, still painted in a light pink from the ball tonight. I looked at him again, my eyes focused on his eyes. I was so at home right now, I had never been able to speak without watching my tongue, but with him… I really didn’t have to. He was so sweet, so caring, so wonderful. If that woman had gotten away with her plan, I would have been dead hours ago, but I was alive, thanks to the riders.

He began to sing softly to me, my eyes shut slowly and I felt him leading me out onto the balcony. I opened them, smiling into the winter moon and then looking at him. His voice was wonderful, beautiful and amazing. I could not believe how good of a singer he was and once I got the rhythm, I allowed my voice to hum alone with him. It was a beautiful song and as he sang, I could smell everything, the roses below, the winter scent that came with snow… Everything. It was beautiful, wonderful. I felt the wind and looked at him as he sang, watching his hair move and his wings move. The song was true to both of us and I closed my eyes towards the end. ”For you my Lady." I opened my eyes once again and looked at him, a smile on my face before I wrapped my arms around his neck, kissing his lips. ”It was beautiful… Thank You.”

Her impish grin was amusing him beyond belief. And her laugh, like a song to his own ears. How could this young human not be in love with another, or more to the point how had none fallen for her yet he wondered as he basked in the joy of her laugh. Then she began to tease him, letting one of her lone fingers go to her lips in an amused grin. O how he loved kissing those lips. And seeing those eyes she held on the perfect face. It was so hard for him to believe that she was not to be wed, and was not being courted, and yet was so happy she was all his.

While he sang he watched as well as heard her join in with him, there voices becoming one. This brought a smile to his face, for she may not have known the words but she did what she could and joined him. When the song was over he felt her arms wrap around his neck, and his instinctively went around her waist, and they meet once again for a sweet kiss of love. No lust was in either of their hearts. Only adoration for he other, and content for what they had. " I needed a beautiful song for you. It is hard to find words to express what you mean to me." Darek said with a smile. " We should let Awiti know, and maybe the others if you believe they will understand." Darek said not wanting to keep it a secret. He wanted to be open with her and not have to worry about what others said. People talked enough about the human rulers at times, and he did not need her to be called a harlot on his account for their secret meetings.
