We are a fantasy site based on Christopher Paolini’s Inheritance Cycle. Taking place 500 years before the events of Eragon, the site’s setting is one of racial tensions and political corruption. You do not have to have read the books to join, as this setting is very different. Information on both canon Inheritance and our own spin-off ideas can be found in the Codex, linked in the sidebar to the right.
Also, please note that this DTT is still a work in progress.
Only seventy years after the humans’ arrival to Alagaësia, they waged a war against the elves for three long decades that resulted in the death of thousands and a very severe rift between both species. The Riders, unwilling to take sides during what they call the ‘Blue Divide’, have earned reputations as cowards and misers. Ten years have passed since the war, and the hostility, though ever-present, has become a sleepy lull.
However, it is nothing but the calm before the storm. The Hive manipulates Queen Dellanir, while the ever-powerful Cathedral’s presence seems to grow stronger in Broddring with each passing day. Rumours grow of the Riders and their true devilry- secret, horrific experiments performed on prisoners, disturbing rituals, and strange disappearances. Should these rumours persist, one of Ilirea’s neighbours may take this matter into their own hands.

Information on Alagaësia from its native races and biggest factions to its concepts and important historical events. Very much a work in progress, so suggestions are always appreciated.
The imposing capital of Broddring takes up the entirety of a large valley resting in the foothills of the Spine known as the Valley of the Crown. Kept an eye on by the Riders by means of a watchtower known as Ristvak'bane, Carvala is broken into two sections- Hightower and Lowtower. The outskirts and Lowtower are entirely dilapidated, full of the commoners and refugees. Above it, Hightower, embellished with the enormous stone palace of the king, displays its beautiful yet terrible splendour.
Legend claims that this mountain range is actually the tail of a great dragon. The most mysterious region of Alagaësia, few that venture in come out again. Rumoured to be the home of strange and terrible beings, the forests are rarely traversed, and even more rarely inhabited. The Spine protects its own- no one may injure the woods and live, and no one has ever made it to the mountain peaks.
Only accessible on foot by following the Toark River, pirate and Urgal attacks have turned this city into the most secure fortress on the continent. Protected by veteran soldiers and a thirty-foot-thick, hundred-foot-high wall, this city is infamous for its gruff citizens, heavy black market presence, and being Broddring's slave trade center. In addition, the city has a hill-like appearance- its buildings grow taller from the outside in, its tallest being the central citadel.
Endless, flat, and uninhabited except for the ruins of human farms and villages, the Silent Plains was so named for its disturbing lack of life following the Blue Divide. Every living person was killed in the many battles that took place here, either executed by elves or killed in friendly fire by their own kin. Windy and prone to thunderstorms, those who wander within with meager supplies rarely come out. However, the Plains are a popular trade route nonetheless, making the area thick with caravans and bandits.
The southernmost large city in Broddring, it is a surprising rarity- prosperous and happy, the nobles are not so high and the commoners are not so low. With a wealth of good trade due to being a port city and being so far away from most of the kingdom's suffering, this otherwise unremarkable wood and stone town is laid-back and peaceful.
The internationally renowned city-state of the Riders, Ilirea is valued for its culture, and can easily boast to be one of the most developed cities in the world. A true historical icon, people from all over the world flock to Ilirea to marvel at its beautiful ancient citadel, vaulted places of learning, museums, parks and villas. Ilirea is every scholar’s fantasy, and all children who are magically gifted, human or elf, study here.
Once used as the front lines during the Blue Divide, Isenstar was finally abandoned four years ago, but its imposing wooden structures, abandoned siege engines, and ghost towns still litter the lake's southern coast. To the north, it is bordered by Du Weldenvarden's eastern edges, and is the first mark of elven territory.
The trading hub of Alagaësia, Ceunon imports untold amounts of spices, fabrics, fabulous gems, rare metals, flora and fauna and so on. As such, neither the elves or Broddring were willing to give it up. Though the city eventually went to the humans, it has a sizable elf population, and is ruled by two elven countesses. The melting pot of these two races make Ceunon both exotic and dangerous, and it is infamous for the lawlessness of its organized crime.
Taking up the entire center of Alagaësia, the Hadarac is an untamed wilderness that is mostly populated by Urgals. Hidden within is Du Fells Nángoröth, the secret, ancestral home of the dragons. Beyond the desert, the Beor Mountains take up the southeastern corner, the home of the dwarves. Still beyond them are other countries that few but the Riders visit.
Broddring's religious centre, this city is largely populated by nobles, the richest of whom live around the Grand Cathedral in the centre of the city, home to the Divine, Leona Savasta. Easily Broddring's most beautiful city with its marble-lined streets, the only dangers it poses are to the poor- the nobles of The Tears may do anything to the lesser born.
